I just finished Fatal Revenent, and I may have to read it again. Who is the being on the cover? Also, what is the secret that Linden is keeping hidden from everyone else? **SPOILERS** :?:

I assume the secret you speak of is what she did with her combined powers at the very end of the book.

Thanks, this saves me from reading it all over again.

As in the Runes forum I stated that Christopher Lee is slumming again. And EL says it was because it was all downhill since KH2.

"Find me." = Find Middle Earth.

Gandalf the White is coming to kick some Raver ass.

True that it is CW? Or true that it can't be him.

CW "wore a robe of purest samite, and carried a gnarled wooden rod like a scepter in the crook of one arm. A garland of purple and white orchids about his neck only heightened his austere dignity." And "from under his thick white brows, a silver light shone from orbs without pupil or iris".

No crooked staff. No garland. No glowing eyes. We have a white robe, that's it.

So how are we supposed to figure it out when it's wrong?!?! It's exactly as accurate a representation of Caerroil as it is of Anele, or Berek, or the Theomach for that matter.

:hithead:

At least this version has a non-straight staff and garland.

No, I asked this question here years ago and was surprised to find out that the cover artist usually just gets a few sentences describing what he/she needs to create months before the writer is even done sometimes.
Also they have general non-related artwork on file to use whenever they want.
And the author gets no input, I love that!
That's crazy.

It is supposed to be Carroil Wildwood. That is absolutely correct.

I agree, dlb -- we got hosed. OTOH, if it helps to get SRD on the bestseller list....

I believe you, but where does this information come from? How is it that everyone is so certain? Did I miss another thread somewhere?

Actually in this case they accidentally gave the artist some lines from the two towers. That drawing is based on saruman.

Naw. He's just holding the staff funny. He's got the staff between his first and second fingers, while his thumb, third and fourth fingers wrap around it. It's a convenient way TO HOLD A ****ING STAFF IN THE ****ING CROOK OF YOUR ****ING ARM! IS IT SO ****ING HARD!!!!
.... er, sorry. :-x

I suppose it's pointless to point out that the staff on the cover can't be either the Staff of Law or the forestal's staff.

Hey, does it look to anyone else like the staff originally had some sort of head on it, but the artist re-did it to make it straight? The bark on the tree around the head of the staff looks like it was repainted.

Let give the artist a little credit.
The end of the staff does kinda look like a g-cleft.
Maybe he got the word "musical" in the Forestal description. :D
