Hellgate: London

Okay, so it's not out until Halloween. I've got the Beta! This is going to be a VERY complicated game (and the first shooter I've ever actually enjoyed!) - so, as folks learn to operate the modifiers and whatnot, perhaps we can give tips here?

Tip #1

After completing the first set of quests, go back and talk to Whisper: It's the only way to get Convent Station's gate to open. (It was just one of those "D'oh!" moments for me...)

Anyone else with the Beta want to start a Guild?

>phhhhttthhh!< (I didn't say anything that you can't find out by playing the demo. And the
Spoiler
>expletive<
beta servers are down until just before the launch anyway.)

Lol, I downloaded the Demo from Gamespot a few days ago, and I can't keep away from it! I pre-ordered hoping just to get a day of beta! (I hear they are opening the servers back up next week for the people who pre ordered, it really isn't fair that the people who pre order have to wait for it to get shipped, while those other scrubs buy it at wal-mart and get to play on release!

Im a HUGE Diablo fan, In fact I still come back to it occasionally (most recently... last month). I have been waiting for a worthy sucessor for nearly 10 years now, and this may be it. (It certainly has that crack-like gameplay)

If you pre-ordered the game (and popped the $10 for overnight shipping) you might get the game a day early. Regardless, you should get your Beta key within a day or so, and the servers should be up a day or two before the release.

I swear, I haven't been this fanboy about a game since DII came out. And I'm gonna go play some LOD right now! (Diablo Account name is Skinnyjack. Sorry I never caught up to you before, D. If you're around this morning, give me a holler!)

Pliss, because you obviously a noob, I'm going to go easy on you. Revealing plots or solutions to gameplay in a game, or demo, is a spoiler. Most demos, just like this one, contain plot, storyline and gameplay from the actual game. I have less reason to download the demo now, which contains early parts of the actual game, because you spoiled it. When I buy the game, the first part of it is going to be familiar to me now, and a certain point where it's supposed to be a challenge for me to figure out what to do next, is ruined. dude, please! just be careful, ok?

Es, I'd hate spoil anything for you - and trust me, I haven't. Like I said, the "solution" I "revealed" was a totally obvious part of gameplay (D'oh!) in any game that has a quest in it, you have to go back to the NPC who gave you the quest to complete it - in this case, the character who appears at the beginning of the training sequence.

If that qualifies as a spoiler for you, you've got no room to be calling me a n00b.

Regardless, I'm asking for tips in this thread. If that will ruin gameplay for you, we'll agree to tag all tips as spoilers, and you won't have to read them.

Fair enough, noob :P (I kid!)

A good rule of thumb is if you have to qualify something as

it's probably a spoiler. ;)

In this case, it was me making fun of myself for acting like a, uh, well...

Dammit, there's finally a potential excuse for me to wield my modsaber and I'm away meeting SRD!

But yeah, what Pliss was describing felt like the kind of "D'oh! Why didn't I read the quest text properly!" moment I've had many times over in WoW.

I don't actually know very much about this game. I had a rough idea of the setting but I wasn't aware it was a shooter MMO. I'm tired of waiting for Huxley so I think I'm going to download the demo tonight.

I am certainly addicted to the demo, but beta players say it doesn't even do the game any justie :)

Is it really a double post if it's been a week? Anyway...

I have the game, I am playing an Engineer on Shulguth named Slappybag.

The game is addicting and really fun. There are some bugs and wierd omissions (like splitting item stacks) but The game is awesome enough to hold out for a patch or two IMO. Il probably subscribe once I beat the game at least once.

Right there with you, TD. My character is BasicBro (my lil' brother is basicguy). We've cleaned house right up until Angel Passage, where we've hit some kind of glitch:
Spoiler
After killing the big, bad Giant Zit, and talking to the Sister, it tells us to go into a Access Port that won't unlock.
Anyone got any ideas?

Is it really a double post if it's been 3 months?

Okay, so we found our way past that little hiccup (obviously). Now, we're on to Stonehenge. (bow before us, puny non-subscribers!) It is indeed very awesome, although every time it loads I start singing ...Where the demons dwell/Where the Banshees Live/And they do live well!...
