What do y'all think about a TCTC wiki? We could include descriptions of people, places, races, and other things in TCTC. Maybe even images of the various items. A timeline?

I know there is a decent set of wikipedia pages on TCTC, but I don't think they go nearly far enough. We could either expand them into a wikipedia project or make our own wiki.

The idea's been knocked around before, though I don't think anything ever came of it. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Sounds like Kevin'sWatch.com except as a wiki.

yes, I know it might be duplicating efforts...

or maybe a place in KW to put better descriptions and such...

Yeah KW.com is the place to develope that--talk to Jay (kevinswatch) about it-- he may be doing all the work there himself...

Yeah, I think the idea has come up before in some form or another. I'm not a huge fan of Wikis, but a TC one could be fun and useful to make. I kinda started kevinswatch.com to be a sort of wiki of information in a manner, but I just don't have time to work on it by myself.

And I keep saying that I would take offers of help from you all, but you bums never offer me any help. :P

So basically, I'm open to ideas. As long as we don't diminish the Watch at all. I'm jealous like that. Heh. (Although I'm all for complementing the Watch).-jay

I'd be happy to help, but I'm not IT expert. I can help build a TC wiki or encyclopedia on the Watch...

It would be worth it for the Donaldson-to-English dictionary alone.

Guess what? Someone created a Chronicles Wiki.

There's not much there. Looks like they kicked it off, and then it fizzled out. But updates are still trickling in. Someone nickname of Djryan, from Cambridge UK. There are only 4 registered users for the whole wiki.

You know, we could adopt this wiki...

I think I said before that I'd support a wiki, but I still do. Anything to get other people to work for the site is fine with me, heh.

I made some corrections on this a while back, but its basically empty.

Hrm. . . should we be doing something to fill it up? I confess I've never added anything to any kind of wiki, but I imagine that several people (with the right kind of persuasion. . . perhaps a reward of WGD for every well-written article?) could be enticed to get this thing going. ;)

The Chronicles Wiki sounds fabulous! But I have no experience with that sort of thing either. However, I'd love to contribute if I could. Anything to help spread the gospel of TCTC.

My main concern about such sites is the accuracy of their information. Glad to hear that rdhopeca took the time to go there and correct some things. I think if any of us wish to add to that wiki, we really ought to double-check and triple-check our information. We ought to be able to tell the facts about the Chronicles as cleanly and faithfully as a Haruchai would.

Hmm... The biggest problem is deciding how many identities to have at that Wiki site... Ah well, I guess I'll play it by ear.

If we go ahead with a wiki, I'd recommend just starting a new one rather than editing the existing one. It wouldn't make too much of a difference since the old one apparently doesn't have any content anyway. But making a new one could give us more control over the site (adminship) and integrate it more with the current kevinswatch.com site and message board.

I think this is a tremendous idea. Imagine the data base we could compile. With our combined strength we could rule the galaxy as...well it would be cool. Nuff said. :-)

Well, the old one isn't actually old. It's just not fleshed out -- it seems to suffer from lack of contributors. But it's been updated as recently as this month. (Unless that was rdhopeca...) And it began about a year ago.

And wouldn't it be sort of impolite to start a new one without trying to include the people on the other one?

I've tried to contact some people from the site ... too early to get an answer yet.

Keep us posted, WF. I'd be happy to contribute (altho I know as much about doing a wiki as it sounds like everybody else does...).

How about just one, for starters.

That probably was me. There were some basic errors on the site, such as Linden attached to the "Era of the New Lords", which she was not, and Mhoram's mother was missing. But I didn't stick around very long.
