I have Xbox, and love it!!!! Especially now that 360 is out all the games are dirt cheap!
But I want a system where I can have a whole bunch of games I can play with my family. Xbox and Playstation are not as good as Nintendo in this apsect, and the Wii system just seems a whole bunch of fun to play!!!

I think my wife is getting it for my brithday next week!

It looks like the most fun for younger kids.
And I heard they are working on a game featuring Lightsaber Jedi battles!
Where you are holding the Wii controller and it moves the lightsaber any way you want it.
That sounds pretty cool.

I'll get a Wii on three conditions:

1) A better software library. Right now the only thing that catches my eye is Metroid Prime 3. Yeah, Twilight Princess was great, but it was made for the GameCube and definitely shows.

2) A controller that doesn't need batteries.

3) Different colors. I hate white!

Not to mention it's a "made for gamecube" game which was also released on the gamecube

Fire emblem 10 was likely a made for GCN game but they're only doing a wii version. And it actually is going to add pressure for me to buy one.

EDIT-WTF did I mean $20 less? I probably thought that Wii games were ++ than GCN games like PS3 games are more expensive than PS2, but apparently they aren't in any case.

Super Mario Galaxy is out! They say it's the finest Mario since Super Mario 64. It's so very tempting to plunk the $$$ down for a Wii, Mario Galaxy, and Metroid Prime 3.

But then I'd be broke, and I have DS games to think of, too. Sigh!

The Wii seems like a fine system so far, but none of the games have really been able to hold my attention for very long for some reason.

I'm mainly waiting for SSBB, which should be awesome.-jay

My kids love their Wii. They love the sports pack, Guitar Hero III, and are counting down the days to the Wii version of Super Smash Bros.

(They drive each other nuts fussing with the guitar controler, though - one like to use if left handed and the other right handed, so they have to keep fussing around with the strap).

The question of "what do you get a 41 year old man for his brithday ws just been answered: Wii!

Love it. Only played the sports game that comes with the system so far, but what a hoot!
Can't wait for other games...!

I'm hoping Guitar Hero III is worth all the hype I'm hearing about it from other parents of young teens, as it is a planned Hanukkah present here. And Rockband may soon follow if Guitar Hero III is well received.

Where the heck did you get one? I've been searching for one for months to no avail.

If anyone can find one locally, I'll happily pay shipping so I can give it to Cailette for Christmas.

Cail, do you know about Wii Tracker for online tracking and Wii Locator for brick and mortar stores?

Also, rumor has it that if you know anyone in Manhattan, that the Nintendo store gets a new delivery of Wii's every weekday around noon.

My older son will not be home until Tuesday night, so I do not know his opinion of Galaxy yet, but my younger son actually has (GASP!!!) set aside his addiction to GHIII to play it.

I was getting a kick and a giggle out of watching him play it last night. You change Mario into all kinds of crazy stuff like a bee and a spring.

Duchess, GHIII is as good as I'm hearing then? Beorn has shown no musical interest, but I hope the game itself engages him.

Cail, my wife told me the story of her scoping the city (Toronto ... no small town) for one without luck for a couple weeks, then went in to a small EB Games store near by and got the last one... According to reports, teh Wii is selling like crazy (I had no idea .. i thought it was still relatively unknown --- no TV ads).

Now I had no idea Guitar Heor 3 was on Wii! THAT is a purchase I HAVE to make!
And I too have heard crazy-good stuff about Mario Galaxy ... hmmmm
