Scale of miles for the map of The Land

I have the map of the land that's in the front of all the books, but I was curious as to a scale of miles or leagues from one side of the map to the other accross and down so I can get a decent estimated scale of miles for it. I'm sure it's been discussed here but I was hard pressed to find the information. I was just curious about this. Anyone know ?

It's it about 300 leagues from Revelstone to Kevin's Watch, I think?

Yes, but that isn't "as the crow flies".

Karen Wynn Fonstad lists the distances in her book,
The Atlas of The Land. I calculated the leagues to miles from Google. I'm guessing that miles will be approximate in all cases.
300 leagues from Mithil Stonedown to Revelstone. 1,036 miles.
200 lgs. from docks on Soulsease to Revelstone. 690 miles.
Confluence of Rivers White and Grey:
100 lgs. to Guards' Gap. 345 miles.
150 lgs. to Last Hills and Garroting Deep. 517 miles.
70 lgs. to Revelstone. 241 miles.
500 lgs. to Landsdrop. (Southron Range to Northron Climbs) 1, 726 miles.
300-400 lgs. Revelstone to Plains of Ra. Approx 1200 miles.
50 lgs. across the Plains of Ra. 172 miles.
270-300 lgs. Revelstone to Doom's Retreat. Approx 1,040 miles.
40 lgs. Doom's Retreat to Cravenhaw. 138 miles.
60-65 lgs. Revelwood to western edge of Trothgard. 224 miles.
150+ lgs. Rivenrock to the confluence of the Black and Milthil Rivers. 517 miles.
50 lgs. Rivenrock to Gallows Howe. 172 miles.
400 lgs. Revelstone to Seareach. 1,380 miles.
40 lgs. north edge of Lifeswallower to The Grieve. 138 miles.
360 lgs. Soulbiter to Revelstone. 1,242 miles.
She states that The Land is slightly smaller than the United States: 3 million versus 3.6 million square miles.
Hope this puts it in perspective.

Hile Troy was fairly detailed in discussing distances in TIW, I think.

I always thought the Land was FAR, far smaller, maybe Texish size. I always wondered how large it was in comparison to WestofMiddleEarth, too.

Yes a league is 4828.032 meters which is 2.9999 infinite miles.
4828.032 meters X conversion rate of .00062137119 (miles)= 2.999 rounded up 3 miles
Computers are a marvelous thing lol.

So HT marched his army, on foot, from Seattle to Houston?

Just got a copy of The Atlas. The Land as we know it is only approx. 900 miles wide, and slightly less N/S. This makes the nation of Iran the closest representative of the actual size.
Based on that...I think one could see the tip of Mt. Th in the distance from KW. (please tell me if I'm wrong)

Pretty close. My estimate is more like Spokane to Albuquerque (for Revelstone to Doom's Retreat) with the subsequent retreat to Cravenhaw at the south extreme of Garroting Deep being like a march back west to Winslow.

Excuse the double post, which is in response to another.

Yes, assuming that KW had 360 degree visibility and that Mt Thunder was tall enough that the intervening hills did not obscure it. We really do not have enough information about the height of Mt Thunder, the other hills or the size of the earth of the Land (and therefore its curvature) to make this determination.

Just got one of the two copies of The Atlas of the Land from my sister. The author made a mistake in representing the scale of the full map. In the text she shows that Revelstone to Mithil Stondedown is mentioned as 300 leagues (900 miles) in LFB, but then she shows a scale on the main map a couple pages later where the entire Land as we know it isn't even 300 leagues. Sorry for the errant info a couple posts earlier.
If Rev to Mithil is 900 miles, then from the Westron peaks to Foul's Creche is probably more like 1400 miles which indeed makes the Land approx. the width of the US.

Depends on where you are. At the SF - NY level, the US is about 2600 miles across.

Wait.
No f#cking way those distances are accurate.
The Warward went equivalent distance from Seattle to Houston with no roads and on foot?
This is why SRD doesn't worry too much about the details I guess.
That's insanely stupid.
I picture the Land (from the Western Mts to Foul's Creche) to be roughly around the size of Texas as well.
