Has any one got any thoughts about what type of book did Thomas Covenant write that became his bestseller?
My apologies in advance if this has come up before ( and I did do a search too)

All I can say is that SRD has not provided that info.

But he has...
Berenford from TWL wrote:"If you had a chance to read Or I Will Sell My Soul for Guilt, you'd find him arguing that innocence is a wonderful thing except for the fact that it's impotent. Guilt is power. All effective people are guilty because the use of power is guilt, and only guilty people can be effective. Effective for good, mind you. Only the damned can be saved."

I assumed hue of bone was referring to Covenant's first novel, EL. Or I Will Sell My Soul... is one of his late works.

I'm beginning to wonder if using SRD's GI as a source is such a good idea after all.

Maybe
Or I will Sell is not the bestseller after all. I assumed it was.

OIWSMSFG was written between the First and Second Chronicles. It was based on philosophies Covenant learned from being in the Land.
Hist first novel, which was the bestseller, predates the First Chronicles.
I don't know of any references to it's title. But, since it was so trite that Covenant later regretted writing it, it's probably not worth knowing.

"Self congratulatory Fluff" was how it was described in the books, I think.

I thought he wrote The Servants of the Wankh. That's why he became a leper, too much wankhing.

Wankh? Are you speaking of the ancient Egyptian symbol for the self-abusing Sun God, Spankitophten-Ra?

Dang, hilarious.

However, DukkaWaynhim, the ancient Egyptian symbol for the Key of Life is the ANKH, not the WANKH.
And this is an interesting thread. TC was so disgusted with himself for writing that bestseller that he burned it after returning home from the leprosarium. He also burned the book he had started to write; the act of writing, of using his imagination, was a violation of the discipline he had acquired to survive, to deal with his disease. Much like traveling to the Land.
I'm re-reading TIW right now, and had forgotten something about this bestseller of his. Hile Troy tells Covenant in Revelstone that his novel had been made into a movie. I wonder why this was never mentioned in LFB. Only about 3 weeks separate the events in LFB and TIW, so the movie couldn't have been made in that time.
Interesting...

I'm sure DW knows this.

No that was how the first book was described-the one he burned, the one that made him famous.

I wonder if we're experiencing the first book right now. Covenant has fallen asleep at the type writer in his cottage on Haven Farm while writing his second book. The first Chrons is TC dreaming about his best seller. The second chrons reflects at least part of what TC had already written but then his unconscious mind is embellishing further. The Third Chrons is a continuation of this theme. At the end TC wakes up. He doesn't have leprosy, he's been drooling all over the pages of his second book, and (after learning a valuable lesson from his dreams) changes the course of his life for the better.

Hahaha, if that's how it ended I would have to hunt down and torture SRD.

Yes, that's what Emo Boy was referring to. Observe:
