OK - so i have been watching kitchen nightmares with gordon ramsay for quite a while now and i'm confused. all these people seem to make the same mistakes !!

they spend a cart load of money but get bad chefs, bad waiting staff, their menus are longer than an epic poem, the owners are too soft, and nobody knows where their restaurant is !!

why would anybody make all these mistakes knowingly??

I'm assuming you're talking about a television show? Reality television? There's big money in "reality" TV.

Yes, it's a reality TV show. Each episode, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey visits a failing restaurant and shows them how to improve their business. And Vain's right--it's usually the menu, the staff, and the owners' refusal to change their ways that he has to deal with.

I just love it when some guy who's been cooking at some unknown restaurant for a few years thinks that he knows better than Gordon Ramsay, a man with two 3 Michelin star restaurants (though I think I heard he might've lost a star at one).

And the UK version of the show is a bit better than the US's. The UK shows have more swearing and attention to the food, while the US version has more focus on drama and an interior makeover. Heh, though it's kind of funny that after the first two shows, you no longer see Ramsay changing into his chef's jacket. Didn't test too well over here, I think.

Funny. I actually prefer the U.S. version of the show. I watch as often as possible and I record what i don't have time for on the dvr. Sometimes I'm quite suprised at the reactions some of these restaurant owners have when Chef Ramsay gives them the...well.. Chef Ramsay experience. What? They've never watched Hell's Kitchen?
I know I know. It's reality tv. If they didn't freak out it wouldn't be entertaining.

Bollocks! You honestly think the US version is better? You're taking the piss, you know that.

While my mother was over here visiting, she used to enjoy watching Gordon undress :)

I wasn't aware there was a US version though - it seems I need to give it a miss.

I think if I was ever to open a restaurant (unlikely), I'd heed some advice from someone who knows what he's doing !!

My favourite show has to be the one with the owner that has million, and a rock-star cast of chefs and they still managed to screw it up !! Gordon flicked in, got them to simplify the food (the OTHER big mistake made) and Voila !!

I had that on the other day, not really paying much attention to it when my 7 year old son pointed out to me that he kept saying a bad word. Sure enough, he kept saying "shit", my son knows not to repeat it.
