8 kick-butt movies you didn't know were based on books

Article

This probably doesn't need it's own thread, but it's a great article if only for this description of Planet of the Apes...
This classic parable provides the audience with a moral that resonates with all of humanity: If you put monkeys in charge of society, don't be surprised when everything explodes. Meanwhile, Charlton Heston overacts, punches aliens and nails attractive women in a way that would make Capt. Kirk proud.
But it's a good list, and it has made me ponder what other great books would make for great movies.

Gibson's Neuromancer (stuck in development hell)
John Steakly's Armor (no need to completely screw it over like Starship Troopers to make it audience friendly)
Donaldson's 'Man Who...' books (easily the cheapest on my list to make)
Wolfe's New Sun series (a guy can dream)
The Journey of Socrates by Dan Millman would probably make a good movie, too.

I'd love to see a good Neuromancer movie made.

Lol, great article. (Gotta love Ebert) I also got a kick reading some of the replies.
The Hulk

I would like to use this opportunity to say that everyone who asks why a book they've heard of is on a list of books they haven't heard of is fat and gay. That is all.
Lol internets.
