I liked it. Maybe not quite as good as #1, but better than most of the raft of sequels that came out last year...

I liked it too, but it didn't deliver the satisfaction that the first treasure did.
The writing seemed about on par with the first. But as with all sequels, it suffers in that it's just too much like the first one.
I really liked how they arranged to get the President "kidnapped".
Who wouldn't want to check out an abandoned, secret tunnel under under an old historical site?

Well, I still think that particular aspect, though called a kidnapping, really wasn't, and in a court of law could probably have been defended to a "reasonable doubt".
