Well, Kate Beckinsale again justifies why she's the most attractive celebrity for me.

I am amazed at Dolph Lungren and Brian May.

The whole human race already knew that Brian May was the man, but that list is pretty surprising. Apparently Pamela Anderson also has genius level IQ.

Interesting list, I knew about Vin Diesel from the Riddick game (which is as excellent as the article states) and Brian May's completion of his PhD thesis got plenty of media attention over here (although I'd like to know how he can take a 20 year sabbatical when regular PhD students only have four years total).

I'm glad that Asia Carrera will be able to make a successful career move when she's an incontinent 35 year-old, but Dolph Lundgren was right out of left field. I wonder what he's up to now?

I think it was actually 30 years. The only real limit for people (like me) is when the scholarship money runs out. For rich folk like May, they can kick back and do what they will. As long as the research is still relevant, I doubt many university boards would object.

I have also heard, now that I recall, that Sylvester Stallone has genius level IQ. Which would make Rocky 4 ironically one of the highest average IQ productions in Hollywood history.

If Hyperception doesn't submit something relevant in regards to his dissertation research before the end of this current semester, he will have to retake his qualification exams. It's been three years since his prospectus defense...

I know I had three years of funding, but I had to submit within four at the very most and would've been charged a 'writing-up' fee for doing that. I took a long, hard look at my project as I was coming to the end of year two and having spent 18 months developing techniques that were supposedly optimized before the funding was approved, decided that there was no way I'd have enough data for a PhD at the end of the third year. I walked and having recently gone back to see about writing up as an MPhil, I'm sure I made the right choice. Not one of my cohorts was able to submit on time (and some of their projects ran much, much smoother than mine) and now they're all trying to write up with no money.

There is now growing concern that PhDs should be funded for four years and that the three year timeframe just isn't realistic anymore. That said, one of our chemistry lecturers managed to complete a PhD in less than two years back in the seventies, but he admits he had to work like a golem to do it!

Ahh, the benefits of being a historian . . .
