Hints/Guesses to what is coming from prior books?

It has been mentioned that SRD didn't plan the Second Chronicles, but found some lines to plumb when he went through it looking for a sequel.
But he did indeed plan the Final Chronicles when writing the Second, so that there will be things that point to Final Chronicles in the Second.

The importance of stone, rock, is found in the First Chronicles -- The Unfettered One in The Power That Preserves was trying to read the stone, was able to pick up on the history of the Ravers through his study.

But they say how slow the stones speak.

We know from the first two in Final Chronicles, that the Fire Lions are restless.

I read Runes, reread the First Chronicles, got Fatal Revenant, read it, then reread the Second Chronicles. Really cool stuff pops out.

Anele has no friends but stones. He has said, repeatedly, the stones speak, but they haven't noticed yet a lot of things very recent origin. They speak too slow for mere mortals to pick up on what they say.

This is directly set up in White Gold Wielder, when Linden feels that she cannot sense any life in the Wightwarrens --
No life except the breathing , dire existence of the mountain, the sentience too slow to be discerned, the intent so immemorially occluded and right that it was hidden from mortal perception.
That's a general prediction. Money in the bank that speaking to the rock will be key. My guess at a prediction is I think she is going to find the One Rock, One Stone, whichever, under Mount Thunder and "read" it somehow.

But ALSO, something very specific I thought of as a precursor --
Linden felt she was wandering the vitals of an organism which surpassed her on every scale — and yet was too time-spanning and ponderous to defend itself against quick evil. Mount Thunder loathed the banes which inhabited it, the use to which its depths were put. Why else was there so much anger compressed in the gutrock? But the day when the mountain might react for its own cleansing was still centuries or millennia away.
The Fire Lions are restless. I think they are about to react for their own cleansing in Final Chronicles.

My guess is the mountain, which perches atop the Upper Land and straddles the lower, is going to come tumbling down.[/i]

Anele has been discussed in othe topics. I have suggest he is a Oracle for Stone.. and his lore can be called Stone Tell. Like many people I have picked up on some small pieces when Anele reads stone. given time he could relay the Lands entire history by his lore.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed with regards to Anele, but does anyone think that he could be more than just the Stone Sage? I was thinking while my reread of FR that the skurj are anathema to the gutrock of the earth, maybe anele will come from his self-imposed insanity and come to a lore granted from the oldest stone to battle the skurj...just a thought

Good one storm! A Forestal guards the trees, and if Anele becomes a "Stonestal" then it'd make sense for him to guard the Rock of the Earth.

SGuilfoyle, good catches. There are many lines that run from the 2nd chrons... but we don't know which they are ;-) Wayfriend once compiled a list of "potential open ends from the 2nd Chrons" or something like that. He might know where his post is.

Another possibility regarding Anele and the rock is that Liand can wield the power of this One Stone, since he's now tuned in to the orcrest.

What I'm also wondering... the elohim who warned the land spoke of croyel, sandgorgons, skurj (all of which have appeared)... and the merewives, who have not. Unless the elohim meant Esmer, which I doubt, then we're still going to run into them somewhere.

I think we will definitely see the Merewives

One guess I have made in other posts is that Anele will learn from the rocks just what sort of prison Jeremiah must fashion (and how) to eternally cage Foul. The rock will tell him.

If he does show up; it would probebly be only in Andelain as a shade, like in the Second Chrons.

As far as bad guys go, (like there isn't enough already) I don't doubt that what ahpened near the end of WGW is going to come into play.

I'm talking about when Covenant made something, he wasn't even sure what, come out of Drool Rockworms tomb.

Yeah, that was weird. I noticed that from my last rereading that I'd never picked up on before. But when I was reading it, I didn't know about the Last Chronicles.

And was it just me, or did a fiery version of this pop into your mind when getting a description of the skurj:

Great, Cag. We have to burn the forum now. It's the only way to stop it from spreading.

What...that SRD looked to Pokemon for inspiration for the new Covenant books?
