Blame THOOLAH

In the Gradual Interview, SRD wrote:Perry Bell: Hello Stephen,
I was wondering if you have a certain schedule that you follow for writing. I have heard a few authors have to follow a routine to produce their work, but others have stated their imaginations dont work that way, that they have to write when the ideas come.
This might hit the spoiler territory I think. Now that TC is back, I assume (I wont say the joke to assume) you'll be juggling the P.O.V. ( point of view) for both characters. Will you find that to be more challenging than your other works? Also, are you glad to have TC back FINALLY? I know us readers missed him.
Thanks for all you do.
Happy Holidays!
Perry Bell
Reno Nevada.- There's nothing spoiler-ish about your "schedule" question; but I'm sure I've already answered in somewhere in the GI. By personality, I'm the kind of guy who needs a routine. In addition, I'm a "tortoise" rather than a "hare": I'm inclined to think that "slow and steady" produces good work more reliably than "fast and furious". (I am, however, well aware that every writer is different.) So I'm very methodical, both in how I write, and in how I organize my writing time.
"Fatal Revenant" certainly conveys the impression that some POV juggling will become inevitable--if it isn't already. But my feelings about that may be very different than yours. *I* haven't missed Covenant, a) because he's dead, and b) because I'm so in love with Linden. (And c) because I'm SO tired of hearing readers complain about her. <rueful smile>) In addition--as you've suggested--I always find juggling POVs to be very challenging. NOT, strangely, in the first "Covenant" trilogy: there every POV felt to me like an extension of Covenant's. But here: well, it's huge. Personally, I haven't actually spent much time observing all of history simultaneously; so I can only guess at the stresses this might exert on the observer.

So, basically, SRD is sticking to Linden's point of view in the Final Chronicles because of THOOLAH.
Thanks, THOOLAH. You brought it on all of us.
What we need is an immediate pro-Linden campaign which gets to SRD's attention in time to fix the next book! I mean, I love Linden, but I love Covenant more! And I can't keep this up all on my own.

Yeah yeah...whatever.....
We all know that THOOLAH is an international phenomena.
Your post is just more evidence!
I think it's interesting though.
He's clearly said that he doesn't come to the Watch (because he doesn't want to be influence in anyway) so....other than a few Watch members who have spoken to him in person and have mentioned the THOOLAH phenomena, which he was reported to have thought it was all very amusing......that must mean he's must be getting a lot of anti Linden comments via GI questions that never make it onto his website.
It makes sense though, all pro/con Linden comments aside, there's only 2 books left (1/2 way done!) and for the most part TC hasn't been in it yet!

He probably gets alot of flack at signings and conventions and so forth. I was the one who told him about Thoolah. He was amused.

Yes, THOOLAH is only one manifestation of the vileness.
Still, we have to start the cleanup campaign somewhere.
Down with THOOLAH. Join Linden's Army!

THOOLAH didn't need to rear its radiant head. It's clear SRD loves Linden, and intends her to be the star of the Final Chrons. Yeah, Covenant is back, but it's her show.

Right now, I'm more deeply entrenched in THOOLAHism than I've ever been.

It's never too late, dlb... and I've got plenty of time to kill since the Colts are done - watching the Patriots just makes me ill. They are really really good, but there has been a lot of blatant holding going on that the refs just seem oblivious to - I can't watch it any more, especially with CBS's uber-gushy kissass Pats coverage.

Oh, I'm definitely with you on this one (and I can imagine Wayfriend's hissy fit when he reads this.

Being a THOOLAH fan is like being a Detroit Lions fan.
I havn't totally embraced LA. But the stuff that she has to go thru is alot harder than what TC had to endure.

In the first Chronicles TC was already reconized as a living legend or reincarnation of Berek. Everybody was falling over him to help him out.
He could consult with the Lords to find some type of answer.
In the second he had some answers(which was based on answers he got from his first visits) and was revered by the Harachuai. His converts were Sunder and Hollian. He could act freely without being hindered by some masters.
Linden has help from one banned Haruchai, a Stonedowner and some Ramen.
But the Masters have hindered/opposed her from the start. Esmer is two faced and the Harrow is not really a friend. She has opposition along the way in the form of not given knowlewge, so she can make a decent decision and act on it. And I really blame the egotical Haruchai for this problem. And it's in FR where it's explained where they got that self depreciating attitude. They have gone from one extreme to another.
They know the history of the Land and have the information where Linden can find answers. They in their roles as masters will not tell anything unless forced to.

And how does this relate to being a Detroit Lions fan?

It sucks to be a Lions fan, much as it sucks to be Linden in the Last Chronicles?

I agree w/ Ur Dead... along w/ what he named, we've got Roger being so helpful pretending to be TC, a croyel pretending to be her son, and a Theomach who may or may not care about helping her. If she wasn't a means to his end, he might easily oppose her too. On the other hand, she does also have the help of the Mahdoubt, Ranyhyn, Demondim-spawn, and one angry Forestal. But none of them can or will tell her what she needs to know either.

I'm with both of you... not to mention that blatant kick that the Pats defensive lineman (Seymour?) gave to Rivers that caused him to throw an interception. How does the ref miss that one? Am I the only one who saw that? (no, my girlfriend did too.) But the announcers never said one word about it.

THOOLAH, if anything, has only made Linden stronger! (Which is to say, it made her be the POV character more.)
Sure. Respond by retreating further into the H of THOOLAH - the Hate. But don't be surprised if this continues to make things worse instead of better.
In punishing yourselves, you've come to merit punishment.
Oh, and the refs miss lots of holding calls, and lots of interference calls. It's across the board, and possibly somewhat intentional. You only notice it more for the Patriots because you hate them. Ask anyone.
But I'm not suprised to see all the hate mongers getting together and joining forces.
The Patriots will be champions.
Just as Linden will heal us all.
