The Avengers

Marvel has announced that an Avengers movie is likely to happen in a while; since they retain rights to historical Avenger characters such as Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Captain America and so on, they technically could well do so. However, Marvel has stated its intention to first start each character's franchise, in order to establish them before making a full-fledged teamup movie.
The upside is that Marvel stated that if an Avengers movie is done, they will attempt to get all the actors from the "solo" franchises, rather than going the alleged "JLA way" and cast new actors to take on those superhero roles in the group movie.

There is persistent speculation that foreshadowing for the Avengers movie will already be present in the Iron Man and Hulk movies, due this year: William Hurt (playing General Ross in The Incredible Hulk) has confirmed that he shot a scene alongside Robert Downey Jr. (playing Iron Man in the movie of the same name), and there are rumors that Samuel L. Jackson (playing Nick Fury) might also appear in both movies, albeit shortly...
