..Thus begins a thread on ELI STONE,, or what I refer to as ..LOST MEETS ED or LOST LITE.
A few years ago NBC showed " ED"..a story about a lawyer starting over.. and aaaa..Eli's father,, played by Tom Cavanaugh,, Tom also played ED..Soo. a tip of the hat there from Eli to its roots..
Interesting that in its 1st episode of Eli , the issue of Fathers , the past, making things rite with the past, Fathers , was and remains a central theme in LOST as well..Also, Eli's fantasys or hallucinations,, or more to the point..the two sided nature of perceiving reality is central to ELI and of course LOST.all in the quest to answering the central question at the core of all three of the shows,,," Who Am I?"...
Eli, appears to be a lot easier and more lite humored than LOST. Don't get me wrong, LOST has plenty of humor,, its just Dark Humor, in true Surreal tradition. Eli's comedy relief keeps the show " quirky" which is a appellation long ago given to ED.
I liked the first episode of Eli. Already being of the mindset " surreal" after watching a LOST episode. just made ELI that much easier to get , to laff with, and to enjoy. Like in ED,, Eli's jury summation, strikes at the heart of the episode and was the Fell Good moment. The writers and producers have succeeded. Lets talk!!

The Oceanic promo was...click on such and such to win a free golden pass...with a little bit of Sam Thomas of fimd815.com sneaking thru. ..Now that LOST is back on,,i've let the whole find815.com thing go.

The show's getting better. I like the fact that they're trying to draw real characters with real motivations. I mean, at first you expect dude's fiancee to be a total bitch, the boss to be evil, etc. I'm still not a fan of the secretary (didn't like her on Boston Public, either), and the junior associate girl's character needs some work (and despite the acupuncturist's initial quirk, I think some more might be needed there, too). But overall, I'm seeing a lot of progress.

yes Syl..Eli as kinda of a shmuck, gettin the message,, sets up interesting and somewhat unpredictable twists..Reminds me of another anti-hero. I agree,, there is real sense of the pain,,and ,,well,, the FEEL,, like in LOST, is transmitted to the viewer by a technique of using the unreal to deliver it.

I absolutely love this show! All my friends love it too. One doesn't have a tv and my roommate goes to bed too early to watch it so I record it for them.

well this is gettin weird...first I notice that the nites Theme of LOST is also the theme of Eli episode following Lost.. This has been goin on from the beginning of ELI.. Then..the ships doctor on LOST pops on Eli , the same nite...NOW! James Saito,, Eli's accupuncturists pops up on LOST selling Jin a toy Panda,, and then after Jin looses it and returns..trys to sell him a stuffed Dragon..on the nite Dragon is the vision on ELI..aaaaand.. the actor who played Yemi, Eko's bro, on LOST, pops up on ELI as the jury forman...More than Coincidence and lovin it..

Okay..ABC picked up Eli and it premiered last nite..Sigourney Weaver takes the show to a higher level both in plot and in star power. Great twists and turns with the end parable being..Life is not only about fulfilling ones potential,,but in doings so,,how fulfilling ones potential effects everyone your potential is connected to..Like I said,,a higher level.
Geez The Stone's real time connect to the issues obviously hot off the press. Predatory mortgage lenders and recession. Alot of the fans thought Maggie was history but shes still in the show and thank god Katie Holmes, will only have one episode to star in,,well, thats what it looks like. You just never know about this show. Interesting arcs and conflicts to be resolved have been pointedly made obvious; ie Maggie is engaged, Elis brother is co habing with the gal who took Eli's virginity,, and of course twit co workers exfiance and fall guy lawyer have become a couple. But the olde man is coming over to Eli's perception of the world..Old dog and new tricks..hey,, if I can do it so can he..
Any show that opens with Dancing in the Streets and can be remembered as it was originally released on 45...( I'll save you the Google,,Martha and The Vandellas,,and a 45 is a record made of vinyl that spun on the record player at 45 revolutions per minute,,thus only one 3 to 4 minute tune on a side)..anyway,,any show that opens with a rousing version of Dancing in the Streets ,,has me for duration.
All the rite Surreal words were in dialogue for the Surrealist to be comfortable with its perception of this show. The all encompassing Surreal, " Who Am I?" remains at the core of Eli Stone; fulfilling potential, the connectivity or everything and body...unpredictability of Life..etc etc..and the not for the faint hearted roll of Sigourney Weaver has got me by a head lock. I mean,, i'm here at KW posting pics of My Angel My Muse,,and here is Sigourney as The Messenger from A Higher Place,,running Eli thru Parable Land..... ..... ....I don't care, Katie Holmes just doesn't do it for me. I've been here before ,,and its a neat feeling just talking about a show that has hard connections to ones life. Its like when in the TV show ED,,my name and my dogs name got mentioned in dialogue some ten seconds apart in an episode..Yea,, somebody is " Listening". Neat feeling that opens up the Surreal..which..is what Eli Stone is all about.
