Anyone have this?
I have Wii, and am curious about setting it up for on-line stuff. Is it good? Is there a fee? (how the heck do I do it?)

thanks!

Where is LF? I'm pretty sure his Wii is online.

It won't work with my dial-up, so it's out for me. But I had heard there is no fee, and Wii-mii was the topic on the boards I frequented when I first bought Beorn his two Chr-stmas' ago. Everyone loved it.

But, I have not experienced it myself.

The Wii is able to get online. I have mine set up through my wireless internet.

However, there isn't a lot of stuff to do online right now. You can check the weather, news, browse the internet, etc. And they have a few other silly online "games" like polls and post a Mii contests.

I'm not sure if there are any games right now that have online content, but I know that Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart will (which should be awesome).-jay

For Christmas we got a wireless internet router and high speed internet for the whole house.

Yes, the wii works online. :) It was quite easy to get it going as soon as the house became wireless. 8)

My younger son checks the mii channel out several times a week, and enters all of the mii designing contests there. :)

What he is really looking forward to is playing the new Smash Bros. game online against others as soon as it is released. 8)

I don't have wireless at the house, but have DSL. Is it just as easy as hooking up my DSL line in the back of the Wii and we're in?

You can DL Super Metroid (definitely in my top ten) via the service, so I give it props :)

I'm not sure if there's an ethernet port on the Wii, I think it may force you to go wireless. At least I couldn't immediately find one when my girlfriend brought hers over. I was hoping I could just plug in the wireless bridge I use for the 360.

I bought the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connector, which is a very small USB device that hooks to your computer and sends out a wireless signal. Your Wii picks it up and you're good to go.

Jay's right: there's not a ton to do online, but you can download some classic games on the Virtual Console. You pay for them with Wii Points. You can pay online via credit card or buy a Wii Points card (worth 2000 points) at retail stores. NES games cost 500 points, SNES/Genesis 800, and N64 games 1000.

Yes, Lord Foul is correct, to my understanding.

If your home is wireless, you just change the setting on your wii (you do it onscreen, it takes less than a minute, you type in your password to your network, and you are set to go!) 8)

If your home is not wireless, you can go to Gamestop (or similar store) and can buy the connector, and somehow (I am not sure of the details, as we did not have to do it) get online that way - the connector attaches to your computer. I am not sure how much the connector costs, either, as we did not purchase one? :?

And no - not a lot to do online right now, unless you are into mii design (some of them are 8O 8O 8O - there are some gifted people out there!). :)

But as soon as Smash Bros. Brawl and MarioCart come out, being online will be a lot of fun, as you can challenge and play against people. 8)

My younger son is counting down the days until the release of Brawl, which will be happening fairly soon.

My son would like to get the experienced Super Smash Bros. players here on each others' (and his) friends lists, so he will have some experienced people to challenge. I am not sure how to get on each others' friends lists, but I know he goes by the screen name of Rick Kirby on the wii, if that helps you add him.

He has placed in some Smash Bros. Melee tournaments held in Ann Arbor, so he would not be a complete and total newbie, if you do place him on your lists.

None of his friends are wired yet, and he is afraid if he just goes randomly online he will get a bunch of younger kids just starting out with the game, and he would be too tough for them. :?

All of our friends are having a drunken Brawl tournament the weekend it comes out. It will interesting to see what shenanigans happen, if we can go.

Unfortunately we do not have a Wii, despite my intense desire to buy one. Metroid Prime 3 has been out and I can no longer walk into any game store.

Aah too bad :( Me and 2 friends just got a shared wii and I spent about an hour last night playing MP3.

The beginning is very strange...there are other, living, people who you can talk to. Very, very strange. The ship is AWESOME though pressing buttons is so much fun. I want to buy a spaceship.

Duchess...you gave me the help that I needed.

And guess what??? I was playing with the settings and someone near my house must have a wireless router, cuz I am now online!

My boys have been on line all day transfering Miis to their plaza.

Good news. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Sounds like they are having fun!!!!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

(You're lucky you did not have to have a password to get onto that network. The guy who wired our house and set up the wireless network for us made sure we had a network name and password to get on the network. ).

Now that I have DSL, would the Wii Connector work for me? I understand GHIII has downloadable content somewhere...right? Would I access it through my Wii?

Just curious, are any of you guys playing each other? Our wii doesn't have net access right now, but I'm going to have it for some of the time over the summer and I'd like to play some online games if anyone else wants to.

I'll get my friend code up sometime in the next few days, once I figure out what it is.

EDIT-I've been playing smash a lot with my friends, my mains are:
-Game and Watch
-Marth
-Pikachu
-Ike
-Ness
-Lucas
-Kirby
-Toon link
-Link
-Pit
-Poke Trainer
-Snake
-Ice Climbers
-Samus

Of all of them, Ness or lucas is probably my best.
