Clemens: Guilty or innocent

What are your thoughts on the Congressional hearing?

IMO, the only people that looked worse than Clemens were the Republican congress(wo)men. Although I should exclude Souder from my scorn as he was on point and fair.

Guilty. I have not even the slightest doubt.

That said, the guy who shot him up is no saint, either.

There are no good guys here.

(Today Clemens' eyes were shifting more than this guy's: :shifty: )

I don't know.

What I do know, is that with all the problems and issues facing this country right now, our elected representatives have got better things to be focusing on. I'm not trying to say that steroid use in professional sports isn't a problem but, for cryin' out loud, can't it wait for another time? :hithead:

In this case agreed, Ducky. The thing in Congress today was a circus.

But as my older son says, as long as Congress is playing with baseball, they will not be mucking around with other, more important things that might actually impact peoples' lives on a daily basis.

However, I am all in favor of the government investigation of Balco, as that was a company developing, manufacturing, and distributing illegal drugs. Now that is the sort of the thing the government should be doing.

It is so great to see you back here, Duchess! You've been missed. You're oldest has a point but......

I do agree about Balco!

I don't know and I don't care.

The publicity of these proceedings is doing more than almost anything else in turning kids away from steroids. It may not be a lot, but it's more than anything else you could think of. In that respect, it doesn't matter if Clemens is found innocent or guilty. People are thinking about how little chance they would have of hiding it if they were caught using.

Clemens, IMO, is angling to get charged for perjury if it avoids getting charged for using.

From what I hear these hearings are not only unconstitutional but Congress hasn't even passed a law that allows them-they have no legal merit whatsoever (this was the opinion of a federal judge on The Mike Tirico Show on ESPN Radio). If these are proven illegal activities that cross state lines the FBI, and no one else in Washington, should handle it.

Clemons is guilty. The interesting fact is that Andy Pettit is going to come out of this smelling like roses. He won't face suspension and hell he may even end up in the hall of fame.?!?!!!!

Pettite does not have the numbers for the hall of fame. while i don't think congress should be wasting time with this - roger is guilty. and bringing the nanny over to his house right before the hearings? witness tampering?

I find the Clemens story terribly (gleefully?) amusing, because not that long before this whole business, he was a special guest on an episode of Mythbusters where he helped the guys dispel some baseball myths. Oh the sheer hilarity of it all, Mr. Clemens. I hope to see that episode again, cuz I think I "misremembered" some of the myths.

now roger may have had an affair with mindy mcready (a country singer) and john daly's wife???

the man should have admitted to the steroids and none of this would have come out.
