So, I picked up an old waterj ug container the other day not really sure what I wanted to use it for. When I was cleaing my room today, I was pondering whether or not to throw it out, when I realized... *GOLDFISH*

A perfect pet for me to have in my room.



So here's the dealyo. I don't know what to name him. So I'm going to bid off the rights. Starting at 5 WGDs you can purchase my goldfishes name.

Anyone care to buy it? I will edit in the current bid into this first post. BID AWAY!

I think I only have 50wgd to my name so...sure!

I highly suggest that you not name your goldfish. I haven't, and my older one lasted at least 7 years. Would have gone longer, but my neighbor was entrusted with caring for him and he overfed him (more feed vanished from the container in a week than I generally used in 2 months).

one thing to think about is getting the fish out when you need to clean out the water container. My roommate has her fish in a vase, and the thinnest part of the neck is almost too small for the smallest net I could find to fit into it...so it's not exactly the most fun thing in the world to get him out.

Well...um... I think you need to cut the top off...either that or drill a whole lot of holes in the top (before it gets to the neck). I don't know what the general rule is with tanks/goldfish bowls but that small hole definitely isn't enough. And get him a plant. He'd like that!

you should get a beta. They're awesome fish! The only thing to remember, is you can't have more than one male beta in a single tank, bowl, etc, because they'll kill each other.

With the earlier point about the net, I think I'll just cut a really big circle in the top. Enough to get air, but also enough left over to keep a splash barrier.

I'm going to buy it this weekend! Thats why I want to get started on his name now, but I couldn't come up with anything I liked more than having someone ELSE, BUY his name.

you should get a beta. They're awesome fish! The only thing to remember, is you can't have more than one male beta in a single tank, bowl, etc, because they'll kill each other.

What's the care like? I really don't want a lot of extra effort like regulating the tank water past keeping it room.

They're no harder than goldfish to maintain. They're the only kind of fish aside from neons and bottom feeders that I don't kill within a matter of days

I DO like goldfish, though. I think I'll stick with them, unless Beta's eat meat.

There isn't any extra care. My roommate keeps him in a vase, water at room temp, feeds him once a day (when she remembers....). Our neighbors have 4 betas, two have the oxygen bubble thingies, and are covered tanks, the other two are open-air, and don't have them.
You should get a plant though.

you can feed them dried blood worms, I know, but I don't know about other kinds of meat....
