The Re-Animator

Reading Cail's Top Gun thread inspired me to talk about the movie *I* rented this weekend, The Re-Animator, possibly one of the best bad movies ever made. Having recently seen Slither (and loved it) it got me thinking about other riotous and fun horror movies. (I also rented "The Thing" this weekend. I was a little disappointed)

The *fun* approach to horror is something I think we have been missing recently. (although Slither and Planet Terror did a decent job pastiching the style)

I would recommend it to anyone with a somewhat dark sense of humor and a strong stomach. There are a couple of scenes at the end of the movie that are worth the price of admission all by themselves!

Disappointed with The Thing? Bite your tongue!

I haven't seen Reanimator since it came out, but I remember it being very entertaining. That's the movie that gives new meaning to "giving head", isn't it?

About "The Thing" I kinda felt that the coolest aspect of the movie, the not knowing who was infected and who wasn't, was short-changed for super cool special effects. (I am not going to lie, they were awesome and horrifying) I just feel like the plot was at times a little confusing. (The ending didn't make much sense at all to me) and there wasn't enough time spent tightening the script. I have it listed in my mind as one of a bunch of movies that could have been *much* better with a couple of tweaks, possibly just in the editing. (Like Fantastic Four, Tron, and Total Recall)

Huh, go figure. I'd say The Thing is one of my five favorite movies, and one that can't be improved upon.

I absolutely agree. The movie is a masterpiece.
