Hahaha, not knowing the answer to your question is cheating.
The phrase was due to an initial misunderstanding of how the Gap drive worked. Despite the fact that tachyons and FTL was not involved, they still used the terms "enter tach'" and "resume tard" to represent entering and leaving the gap.
