No. A small hint - it's two words.

I'm pretty sure it is "something" Dynamics, and I want to say Synergy Dynamics (or SynDyne). But that doesn't sound quite right...

Not correct, but definitely getting closer!

I'm going to take StevieG's advice from the Mile High thread and lighten up about this forum. A little.

Anodyne Systems. Such a wrong name for a company with such critical physical and cyber security responsibilities. While I didn't immediately remember the name, the recalled cognitive dissonance led me pretty quickly to the right words.

SRD does love his wordplay. Me too.

So, once StevieG certifies the answer, I've put myself on the hook for another question. Shazbot...

Congratulations SD, you are correct!!

SRD loves his wordplay, which I also like. I think that in recent times, some of it has become a little heavy-handed, but he's not going to change now :D

I believe that in life, it is important not be be too rigid about some things - there can sometimes be a risk of closing one's mind too much to a situation or mental decision that may have been made long ago. So thank you for lightening up (a little). :D

As you can see from this thread, there is no real pressure to come up with a question as quickly as it may have been in the past. Therefore, perhaps you can alter your in-built reluctance to answer questions due to the obligation of coming up with another question?

Over to you SD.

Having said all that, it would be great to have another question :D

When Warden relays Vestibule's "requirement" for Vector, Morn, Angus, and Davies to be sent to Calm Horizons, Davies is understandably reluctant. What information leads him to agree to go?

...The knowledge that Angus can now act on his own volition?

You're headed in the right direction. Davies knows Angus is freed from his priority codes; he was a participant in making that happen. The answer you seek has to do with how and why he was able to do that.

Okay. I've thought about it some more.

On the bridge of Trumpet, during radio communication with the Amnion and Warden, Angus was freed from his priority codes because of one of two words Warden said to him while the latter was captive within Calm Horizons. I seem to recall Hashi Lebwohl taught Warden those words: one word ("vasectomy") had to do with freeing Angus from his coded control by the UMCP, and the other word...my memory says it was "apotheosis"... released some kind of previously blocked knowledge for Angus to now use.

I am guessing Angus is now able to see a schematic of Amnion defensive ships like Calm Horizons.

Great guess, but I'm thinking that came later in the story.

I suspect what he's looking for is the fact that Warden circumvented Holt's order to reveal Angus' priority code to Nick by also incorporating a coded order to reveal that same code to Davies at his earliest opportunity.

IrrationalSanity is correct.

The fulcrum of Davies' decision to go to Calm Horizons was learning Warden, not Min (or anyone else), had authored the message that had ordered Angus to show Nick the message (thereby giving Nick the priority codes to control Angus)...but had contained machine language that told Angus' data core to give those codes to Davies as soon as Nick was not present to countermand Davies use of those codes.

Holt had ordered Warden to turn control of Angus over to Nick, with all the dire consequences that implied for Morn, Davies...and Angus. Warden had found a way to comply with that order (as he must), but limit the resulting betrayal by putting Angus in Davies control as soon as such was feasible.
Not Morn. Davies. The UMCP Director had no way of guessing how badly Morn might have been hurt by Angus and Nick. He couldn't gauge what she might do if she controlled Angus. So he'd chosen her son. Without knowing him, Warden Dios had given him the same power Nick had.
.
.
.
"I can't turn my back on him," he said to his mother. "Not after he saved us. Not while he's aboard Calm Horizons.
Your question, IS.
