Oops..I origionally wrote Brown...I meant Butler!

Has anyone read her stuff? I thought I'd throw her name into the mix of authors to consider. I picked up a book of hers on the recommendation of a friend, and it has a great start!

I'm kinda snotty when I consider new stuff, I have a fear of terrible books :P that's partly why I come here - to get some new ideas!

Anyway, she's won plenty of awards, an as I said, this book I'm reading has started off really well. Anyone have any info about her books?

I read a few of her Patternist books. I liked Wild Seed which was the first book of hers I read.

She explores themes of surrender to oppressive situations you can't escape from. Can you hold on to what makes you you under such circumstances? That's refreshing after reading countless books about valiant heroes that overcome insurmountable odds. She deals with some harsh stuff.

What was the book you read?

Read Parable of the Sower, and checked out from the library another one with a similar title. Dug both, but yes...I have to admit situations you can't escape from makes me very uncomfortable, so I doubt I'll read too much else from her. Both were really good, but I can't go back to that headspace.

I read Lilith's Brood and Wild Seed. Yes, they were excellent books, but very different from what you'd expect. I'm glad I read them, but I'm not sure I'll be reading more of her stuff.
