I was thinking about this in the shower the other day; of all the loose ends that Linden left hanging in the Land's past, as well as what we personally know right now about the newly uncovered history of Berek. It occurred to me that Linden is NOT done with the Land's past yet, not by a long shot. On one account, she made a promise to Caerroil Wildwood, one which I think that she intends to keep. Also, there is the matter of the Insequent's roles in this tale. For instance, why does Linden know Theomach's real name now? And what about the Vizard? Why even introduce him, if in Linden's proper time, he's already passed on much like the MahDoubt has (wasn't it for imposing his will on Theo?)

My prediction: Linden will go back in time. She will meet the Vizard. She will compel Kenaustin. She will uphold her promise to the Forestal. She will give Berek her Staff of Law. And most importantly, she will do something in the Land's past that will prevent the rousing of the Worm at the end of FR.

I also don't think that the Guardian in the Second Chrons is going to be Kenaustin. Perhaps, Martiir?? I forget, can someone look it up, did the Guardian have eyes? Do we have a physical description of him?



Another thought occurred to me as well: What is Linden returned to the "real world" from the Land's past? Would she be in the real world's past? Could she meet Covenant before he went to the Land for his first time? How about before he even got leprosy? Interesting to think that the Arch of Time could be broken from the Real World, eh?

IIRC The Guardian had cataractic, milky eyes.

the Theomach is out of the story (according to SRD) so I am not sure we will meet him in any other guise (but possible of course).

I think that there'll be more returning to the past. But not for any of the reasons you give.

The Vizard was invented to explain the story of Ak-Haru. He need not ever appear in the story again.

I had wondered for a while if the roused Worm would indeed destroy the Earth, forcing Linden to take them all back in time, and we spend the next two books in the past, with everyone worried about creating paradoxes.

Linden might be able to go back to the real world from the past. But the thread of creating a paradox in THAT world would prevent her from even considering it.

When did SRD say that? I haven't caught up on the GI in a while, so it may well be in there now. I do recall him indicating that the Vizard was not expected to appear directly.
I'm going with the assumption that Linden and TC will have to find out how Berek really got that limb off the One Tree without rousing the Worm, given that Findail's original explanation in WGW is no longer operative. To me this suggests that the Theomach knows how to quell the Worm and that's what the next book will need to accomplish. Hence the fact that Linden can compel the Theomach with his real name seems pretty indicative that we'll meet him again, maybe in a time travel sequence, maybe not.

I don't know how "gone" he really means here, but...

There is so many side stories to been experience if written correctly.

Thanks. I haven't been to the GI since early in the month so I had not seen that. I wonder if Brinn (now ak-Haru) will appear in the story with answers about the Worm. He did promise that he was not "dead to life and use" at the end of The One Tree and that was not fulfilled in any way I can think of in the 2nd Chronicles.
