Resistance is futile !!

To simplify the whole member email thingy, I've created a user group for you to join if you want to be emailed with whatever useful stuff we happen to come up with at 2am

Click on the link below and join the group called "summons"

kevinswatch.ihugny.com/phpBB2/groupcp.php

I think it doesn't need anybody to activate it so theoretically you just click join and Voila !! You're on our spam li....I mean "Useful KW Info sent to you by us" list :)

Correction: I need to activate you so join away and I'll add you as I go.

Better double check that. The message I received after clicking join said I would be notified when approved.

When I clicked on the link you posted, it just took me to the two FR groups which I have the ability to view.

*confused*

It should take you to a page which has both the groups you're in, and the "join a group" menu.

It does, it's just laid out/worded slightly confusingly.

I have 14 people signed up so far :)

I'd like your thoughts on a little something called email digests. They're essentially something you subscribe to that give you a rundown of all posts in a specific forum in a nice readable format. The mail can get sent daily or weekly and might be useful - or not :)

*nodding*

I receive all of my email/group loops mail as digest, except for freecycle as you have to respond to an offer right away if interested in getting it. But, I suspect this Watch group won't be generating a lot of emails except when needed so I don't think going digest would be necessary.

Do you see the admins sending out more than one email a day, Vain? Unless there is a serious problem, in which case I expect most members would want to be updated as often as possible?

i don't see us sending out more than two a year actually but who knows :) In the event of a serious issue, that's hopefully where the backup board comes into play

I'd only want it for board problem updates etc. really, but a circular every now and then is fine. Would be great to get a mail saying the forum is down, maybe with a link to the backup to remind us...

I agree with Av. No daily emails, please. I have enough subscriptions to deal with already, and no time to take care of them.

That's an understatement!

I looked again and saw I was "subscribed" to FR and not to FR2 (huh?), so I clicked "subscribe."

When I went back to the link again, new "non-member groups" had appeared: Log-in problems, Pan_sunrise, Pan_sunset, summons, writers, writers2.

Please define. :?

Pan_sunrise and Pan_sunset are the Pantheon Court forums that are hidden to non-members of the Court. Writers and Writers2 are the writers circle forum that is hidden. I think FR2 is the same as FR, but since I don't belong to either, I am unsure. It just needed two listings since so many wanted to belong, or because there is two mods or something. Summons is this new mailing list. Log-in problems I didn't know had a hidden forum. I don't belong to that one either.

Just because there's a group doesn't automatically mean a forum. :)

And just what is Pantheon?

The forum-based RPG where we play as gods. :D

Fine, fine. I was more focused on the intent than exactly if there were forums or not... ;)

The first two links in my signature are to my deity's reveal in the Second and Third Age of the game. I didn't play in the First Age, although I lurked, so Av would be more experienced and thus the better choice to explain more.

Pantheon and the other RPG/strategy forum games are found in Gravin Threndor.

So what are Log-in problems and summons?

Summons is the mailing list Vain started this thread about. Log-in problems I have no idea.
