I'd definitely play. I have no problem with antagonism, when it's the premise. Great stuff!

Arg...I'm torn...I'm trying to minimise my commitments, not add to them.

Lemme think about it.

You want a forum?

Well so far I only have three and a half volunteers (at least five would be nice, but the more the better), and I'm still working on the game itself, so not yet.

I guess I should give away a bit more rather than just saying it's a god game with a goal.

In the game, you don't play as gods, but as idols pushed into pseudo-godhood by a surfeit of undirected faith.

I'm also pretty sure the game is some form of blasphemy.

Maybe I could try to join, that would be three and two halves) Pretty much those same five if the halves make up their minds.

And the idea reminds me of Dominions - a computer game where you're supposed to be a powerful creature who tries to claim godhood, a Pretender God) Maybe I could steal one of my characters from there into this one))

As for blasphemy, well, these are games, is Tetris blasphemous because of it having a world of only geometric forms and denying the multitude of other forms created?

None of it's blasphemous as far as I'm concerned.

How on earth do people make maps for these things? All I know how to use is MS Paint, and it comes out looking terrible.

I don't want to volunteer anybody  but Av did mine. I did the original, really really silly looking one, and he took it from there.

Heh. I tried making a map with Paint and it looked like a 3 year-old did it. I added about 10 years of maturity by, uh, borrowing a program.

I thought you'd used AutoRealm. Which is what I used for the first Acropolis maps I did, on the recommendation of...uh...Dorian I think.

For Fists, I just drew over his original BMP in PaintShopPro, using layers, applying effects, etc.

Anyway Murrin, try download AutoRealm, it's free, and it's got all the little things built in...you just have to click and arrange them how you want.

Bit of a learning curve, but quite versatile.

Yes, using a generator or some game constructor could do. Or I can try to make something like this. May do better with some more time.

Thanks guys, I'll check out AutoRealm once I'm home.

Currently thinking about how to handle randomised results. Got the code working, need to make lists of possible events and work out what numbers to use, though.

Edit: Got a very nice idea for how some rare events will work. Need to work out the power system, though. It'll be a little different from DSP.

Ah, screw autorealm. If it can't even let you draw a custom shape then fill it with colour, what's the point?

Edit: So as far as I can tell, closed figues only work with Polyshape, Polyline, and Fractal Curve.

Edit2: Aaargh. How do you set an outside edge for this thing? It just keeps going, and going, and going....

I tried Autorealm, too, and didn't have much luck.

I'm getting the hang of it, but it's so tedious and imprecise. I'm also going to end up at this rate with a map image way too big to actually post.

It's also hell on my eyes. Will take forever to get something satisfactory out of this.

Should go back to building the actual game for now, I think.

In the back of my mind, I've already started devising a very different game based on the same basic system. Could have potential in future, for much more than just god-games.

Maybe still draw it? If you provide a sketch or a description, I can try to draw that, or do you prefer to do it yourself?

Hahaha. Me, draw. Good one.

I'll take care of it, just work on it slowly. I've got a chunk done already. Have to decide how big this thing is.

Meanwhile: Where all the players at? No one else interested in a new game?

Maybe people will stir once I have things together enough to post full info, but I was hoping for more interest before that.

Good luck with that, Murrin. I think Aesir had the second most players of a deity-style game, after Pantheon, and Odin kept his player list fairly small. Acropolis and Prophets range from five to seven players, I think.
