The kids really loved the chicken fingers that I breaded in a mixture of crushed Funyuns and flour for their lunch today.
However...............
No one liked the banana-nut muffins I made yesterday that turned out flat and not nearly sweet enough.

Great idea, SBG!
I hear that Weight Watchers recipes are better now than in the old days. But still, you've gotta watch 'em. There was a recipe for baked pasta with butternut squash that my kids even liked. However, they inexplicably "improved" on ropa vieja by eliminating the tomatoes and instead adding celery and shredded apple. (Apple?? In *Cuban* food??) It tasted okay, more or less. But I'm thinking there's gotta be a more authentic way to renovate that recipe....

I made chicken fingers for the kids yesterday.
It called for crushed almonds and a little curry along with the traditional egg and breadcrumbs.
It was ok.
It looked like it should taste impressive but it was just kinda "blah".

Yesterday we had my "famous" (just ask iQuestor) brats, simmered in Warsteiner and butter and served as Sheboygan-style doubles. With that was fresh oven roasted corn on the cob.
Those were the hits.
I also reheated some home made mashed potatoes by adding a little butter and nuking. I should have put them in a casserole and heated them in the oven while the corn was roasting.
That was the miss.

Trust me dude, forget about the expensive almonds and curry powder and smash some Funyuns in the food processor. Every now and again you stumble on something good by accident.

I know, and now you've gotten me thinking.
That's a dangerous thing.

Eating the great brats had another positive effect for me - it took away some of the pain of your blue Florida shirt.....
but I will NEVER have key lime pie as good again.....

...too bad no one got a picture of the front of the shirt, as it says "FLORIDA" phonetically in neon orange Hebrew letters...
(there was no way I was letting dlb not know who I was)

Well bummer. I didn't want to post to the big pics, as I hate pictures of myself. But, maybe this will work better...

The key lime pies sound interesting, but I don't eat meringue. It grosses me out.
I made a lentil, burned onion and rice dish a few weeks ago that was a total hit.
