I'm not sure if this belongs in The Galley or not, but I couldn't think of anywhere else to put it.

Surprised Witch Hazel and Sterno aren't on the list.

*shudder*

I'll leave it here, although perhaps The Loresraat would have been a better choice. But...

...ick...

Ugh! That's truly disturbing. I can't imagine the circumstances where I want to be buzzed out so bad that I'd stoop to such things. Makes my stomach hurt just reading about it.

The prison one sounded worse, even if it didn't cause death as much as the others.

I'm surprised that even cough syrup didn't make the list, or X extract (where x= flavoring, such as vanilla). . . Remember the episode of Family Ties where the alcoholic uncle is caught drinking the vanilla extract in the pantry?

Anyhow, I'd hate to ever need to be drunk badly enough that I'd consider anything listed. *shudders*

used to be a lot of it when we had yeast for baking. now you have to use bread, sugar, fruit...

i have yet to find any of it. but many old timers have told me about how horrid it really is. you get drunk and then very, very, very sick.

That alcoholic uncle was Tom Hanks.

The reaerchers at the research Labtratory I deliver to, drink their cleaning Achohol every Christmas mixed with Orange juice.

These are Labratory Scientists, who work for the Candian Government.

They make good money; I'm sure they can afford to get a cab to pick them up a case of beer!!

It's a possibility that they use ethyl alcohol to clean with so there wouldn't be any problem with that.

Oh, I'm sure it's not poisonus...but it's fairly potent from what I've heard/observed.

I don't see WHY they feel the need to drink it though...like I said, I'm sure they can afford to buy their own liquor and not drink up what they use in their lab.

Yeah, even if it's not dangerous, it surely wouldn't be the first choice of refreshing beverage...

Untill I read that link, I thought the Swedish "bult" was the worst:

A knob of bakers yeast, two pounds of sugar, a galon of water. Mix well and place on the central heating device (close to body temeprature) for four to five days...... No distilling, no filtering no nothing. They just down the frothy yeasty stuff by the gallon. It's get a little bit heavier than average beer: about 7-8% Vol. But - bluearghhh!!!!!

The Mayans used enemas to deliver alcohol and other intoxicants. When I first heard that on a Discovery channel program I didn't believe it, and had to check to see if it was true. 8O

They were pretty serious about their psychotropics, weren't they? ;)
