If anyone ought to have created a full CGI Godzilla it always should have been TOHO. Now it looks as if they may have done it.
I've always loved the "Man in a suit" Godzilla but only because there wasn't any genuine alternative. Tri Star's Godzilla was anything but and just served to irritate me. This could be something different.

Oh. Apparently not really. The link to the article explains.

Well maybe this will inspire someone to do it at some point.

Thanks for the link :)

I've heard rumours that the franchise will be restarted in 2013/14. Whether that's a reboot, or a continuation of Godzilla vs Gamera/Mech-Godzilla/Mothra/Ebirah/Hard-Gay, who knows?

Personally, I've always wanted to see a Godzilla film set in the Samurai period, before the radiation-induced invulnerability, of course. At least, that's what I'd do if someone inexplicably gave me the budget.

Nice looking effects, but I've always loved Godzilla because of the rubber-suits and especially because the sets are all constructed, not rendered. The miniature Tokyo they used in the very first film measured about a city block wide, and more than a block long. Very impressive work.
