SeaFest Denver Sunday Morning Brunch

I apologize for the delay in posting...

We all gathered at cag's Sunday morning for brunch and to see Luci and Sea off. The intended purpose was to finish off the leftovers from the chowdown the night before. danlo had brought a beautiful filet of salmon, and I suggested we do salmon and eggs, as well as the leftovers for brunch.

Well, being 'festers...

Jenn decided she wanted english muffins, which was an excellent decision and while purchasing them pork sausage links came to mind, so those were added as well. In the end, the menu consisted of:

baked salmon filet, with burre blanc (I think that was the sauce Luci had made for her mahi-mahi at the chowdown. We used the leftover and it was fantastic!)
pork sausage breakfast links
bar-be-cued chicken breasts (by Jenn the night before, so tender and moist)
curried chicken breasts (which cag made, I begged him to post the recipe, but perhaps he'll remind me of the title and author of the cookbook instead)
two dozen scrambled eggs
a vegetable medley that consisted of the deconstructed vegetable skewers from the night before, along with the kernals taken off the cob from the leftover corn and seasoned with Carla's "magic" seasoning...yum...before heating
some leftover dirty melon
cantaloup
cherries (oh, I hadn't had fresh cherries in forever. They were available throughout the weekend, and were so good!!)
blueberries (ditto)
bananas
homemade plain yoghurt (I added sliced banana to mine. Carla, if you are reading this... )
I don't remember seeing Luci's fabulous fruit salad from the chowdown. It either was put out and vanished before I saw it, or was totally devoured at the chowdown and there was none left for the brunch
toasted english muffins with various spreads, which included:
butter
blackberry jam (I think?)
...and...
vegemite
coffee
juices

We all enjoyed immensely.
...pssst, Jenn. Did I forget anything? This is all from memory...

However, my understanding is that the purpose of doing the brunch at cag's, instead of going out, was not accomplished and they are still suffering from the need to have several CORNs (Clean Out the Refrigerator Nights) in the future.

Again. cag and Carla were fabulous hosts for the 'fest.
Our neverending thanks.

haha, I thought you said it wasn't salty enough.(or bitter enough or something?)

Indeed it wasn't. Vegemite, it seems, is a milder version of marmite. It was close enough to remind me of home though.

I seem to recall him comparing the vegemite unfavorably to something called marmite that is basically beef extract and salt or something like that, right?

I would have put money on it being made with beef extract, and Sea agreed with me, but investigation (here)reveals it's actually made from yeast.

yes, in the face. Like I almost did. Up on top of Red Rocks. (I almost kicked Jenn too, by accident...sorry about that, Jenn.)

I saw somebody clean out the bowl, but now I can't remember who it was. Might have been danlo. We could blame him, regardless...

I've had vegemite before. It's not bad, but it's an acquired taste. :)

I don't think I will be acquiring a taste for vegemite.
