From Aspen Comics' Vince Hernandez

Hello all,

Unfortunately it's with great sadness that I must inform everyone that Michael Turner tragically passed away last night, June 27th at approximately 10:42 pm in Santa Monica, Ca. Turner had been dealing with recent health complications arisen in the past few weeks. More details concerning Turner's passing, and services, will be given shortly.

Anyone wishing to send their condolences to Michael Turner's family is encouraged to send to:

Aspen MLT, Inc.
C/O Michael Turner

Turner has done quite a lot in his short life. From being an artist on Witchblade to creating his own comic Fathom, and starting his own company Aspen. He's also done many many covers for Marvel and DC, and has had action figures based on his art with a line for Superman/Batman in the Supergirl story, and the Identity Crisis toys. Michael will be missed greatly. He was 37.

Holy crap, what sad news. Michael has been a heavy hitter for DC lately; I have his Supergirl run, and I think he did several Justice League issues. Very talented guy.

This was absolutely horrible news that happened during the WizardWorld Chicago show. I was a volunteer during the show, and it was announced to the volunteer staff at the begining of our day. Caused some disruption of the show since Aspen cancelled all their panels and discussions for the show's duration. Monumental loss to the world of comic book art.
