If I get a provolone, bacon, sauteed mushroom and onion burger (truly a heart attack on a plate!), then I only add ketchup, mustard, and mayo.

Any other burger gets cheese, ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, raw sweet onion, and extra pickle slices.

Just ketchup.
I even skip the cheese.

Cheese, ketchup, tomato, pickles, onion rings. In that order of priority, depending on what's available.

Life's too short to eat burgers only one way!!!!

+ lettuce, onion, pickle, ketchup, mustard, mayo

+ cheese, onion, pickle, and barbeque sauce.

+ chili, lettuce, pickle, mustard (Chili's Oldtimer with Chili, when they used to be on the menu.)

+ bacon, cheese, grilled onion, grilled mushroom

That's all I got, but there's more. It's all good as long as it's not fudruckers.

Interesting.
I'm with wayfriend regarding Fuddruckers.
Personally, if they'll cook the burger rare (rarer and rarer these days) I really like Chili's for burgers.

Otherwise, a local chain called Gators Dockside (my treat if you ever do come to Gator Town, dlb!) has the best burgers locally. Hyperception insists on the Tailgate Burger whenever he goes.
(but, oh no! The menu has been changed and it says they only cook burgers medium and above as well. nooo)

Mustard, ketchup, onion and pickle.

Though, every once in a while, I will put peanut butter only on a burger. :)

I missed this part of your post earlier, wayfriend. Will your Chili's fix this for you off the menu upon request? The one's I've been to do so.

Bananas too? Or Marshmallow Fluff?

Just askin'. (Can you tell I think this is kinda weird? 8O But hey, whatever floats yer boat, Damelon... )

Oh! I got so sidetracked by the image of peanut butter on a hamburger that I forgot to post my favored combo.... It depends, of course.

Generally I skip the cheese. Unless it's a mushroom-Swiss burger. In that case, I add ketchup and onion.

Regular ol' burger: ketchup, mustard, relish, red onion. Unless mayo, lettuce and tomato are available, in which case it's:

Whopper-style: mayo, lettuce, tomato slices, onion and dill pickle slices. (There's no mustard on a Burger King Whopper -- or at least there wasn't when I worked there during college.)

Of course not, silly. Then you'd need a pound of bacon, too.

heh
That would probably go better on the burger with the peanut butter than the banana or marshmallow fluff... ;)

I'm admitting my age when I say it used to be on the menu. It's been a long while. When it was gone, there was a period of time where I used to be able to ask for "an old timer with chili", and they still knew what I meant. Then for some years I could order "an old timer, and put some chili on it" and they would manage. But as of the last couple years, I get a quizzicle expression, and I inevitably end up with the chili on the side (like I can't really mean that I actually want it on the burger!), and it's marginal chili to boot, all sauce, a dash of meat, no beans or vegetables. It's almost not worth it any more. Sheesh. I shoud go over to the rant thread. :)

A burger needs to be medium or above. Too much bacteria in ground beef. I usually prepare mine medium well.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, doctor. I've heard it all before.

I'll still take my burgers rare, and enjoy my steak tartare with raw oysters when I can get them, thank you very much.

What's important is finding a restaurant that grinds its own beef fresh, instead of buying pre-ground beef at a plant. Or so I've been told. Gators Dockside used to do such. I wonder if the menu change means they have discontinued grinding their own beef. :(
