the stuck-in-yer-head song lyric

Put it here, so maybe it'll go away.
I'll start. I heard this on the radio yesterday, for the first time in *decades*, and now I can't get rid of it:
"I'm just a soul whose intentions are good.
Oh Lord! Please don't let me be misunderstood."
(Same station played the original "MacArthur Park" this morning in its "Guilty Pleasures" slot -- which is to say, songs you're embarrassed to admit you liked...)

Wow...whose version was it? Nina Simone? Animals? Elvis Costello? Other?
Thankfully, I have none stuck in my head right now.

Being a true child of the disco era, I've always liked
Santa Esmeralda's version...

Being a true child of the 80's, it is
EC that does it for me.

Sorry, Ducky.
Surreal moment. In Nottinghamshire, people call each other 'duck' and 'ducky' all the time. For a second there, you sounded local.
