It's not all that important to most of you but as a life time Tampa resident I'm pretty proud of our baseball team. After years of struggle the Rays have finally broken their old win record of 70 games making this year their best season ever regardless of what happens from here on out. With 45 games left and a 4.5 game lead in the AL East the Rays have their destiny firmly in their own hands. If they keep winning at the current pace the Sox and the Yankees will have a very hard time catching up. I'll keep watching the rest of the season with interest.

Dammit Tom, why'd you have to jinx them? Now Longoria and Crawford are out!

Longoria is out on a 15 day DL (probably out 3 full weeks) but Crawford could be out even longer. The Rays will muddle through. Until they lose a game I'm not going to worry about it. :-)

Bah, your lack of superstition proves you're no baseball fan!

The Rays are a great story this year, but my Angels still have the best record! :P

Go Danlo! (there are Angel fans in New Mexico?)
They're my 2nd favorite team, behind the Dodgers.

Rays get win 72. What jinx?
Angels are kicking butt this year. No question about it.

Yeah, a hell of a year for them! As the Yankees accidentally tie their shoes together two out of three games, everybody's been saying the Rays couldn't maintain their pace.

Boston? Please...the only thing worth a crap to ever come out of Boston was Barry "Kowalski" Newman.

I heard on the radio this morning that the last time a team went from last place one season to first place the next was in 1889.

The Twins and Braves both finished in last in 1990, and played each other in the World Series in 1991.

Heh. They're only 102 years behind the times.

Oh! I heard what it was on tonight's game, Cail. 1889 was the last time a team that finished in last the year before had the best record in baseball this late in the season the next. Heh.
