That's what you get when your government refuses to threaten your olympians with death or bodily harm or even Hannah Montana tickets, should they be so foolish as to not win the gold every time......

Of course not. 12 year olds might actually want Hannah Montana tickets!

I heard that if you add up all the golds from the ex-Soviet countries and add them to Russia's score they would currently have 44.

The USA seems to have its own version of the table. Everyone else ranks it so that whoever has the most golds is at the top, if equal it's determined by silver, then bronze, etc.
But you guys, can't stand to be losing to China, so you change it to give all medals equal value and make it look like you're winning.

I thought that was odd too, all the official medal tables I've seen have China way out in front. This one flatters Australia a bit, too!

Perhaps we are to be faulted for striving to be the best? Perhaps being the best, is not as good as being known as the best ? Perhaps it is the very reason to have a global competition ? Are you saying that if we strive to be losers we would fit in better with the rest of the world? Ok Im down.

I didn't check out the
Sap-O-Meter site, rating NBC's coverage of the Olympics during the games, but it makes some fun reading after.
And they do give out a medal for the most overused sappy word during the games, so I guess I can post that observation here.
