I hope to God that there are still giant bugs that fart out enough plasma to not only escape the planetary gravity and atmosphere but to tear a starship in half that is orbiting the planet.

I'm sorry, I was going to type out more about the stupidity of the first movie but there's so much!

God I hated that movie.
I can usually suspend my disbelief pretty well for a dumb fun sci-fi but for some reason that movie makes me rage.
