In celebration of Banned Books Week - a whiff of the Tank:

Stein says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. "She asked the library how she could go about banning books," he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. "The librarian was aghast." That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor.

Tyranny in its purest form: I don't agree with what this book is about, so it must be banned and burned, so no one, especially those who may want to, can read them. Thank God we live in a free country

After making that biting sarcastic remark, I read this:

Looks like there is still hope against tyranny :P

There's a bookstore in KC, MO that does an annual bookburning to protest censorship and bookburning.

I think that's Prospero's Books, on 39th near State Line. Great shop.

Yep, that's the place. I loved it...but wife graduated, no more K.C. for me.

And they actually do burn books...ones that they tried to donate and no-one would take [to schools and such], if I have the story right.
