A lot of love or hatred for the Red Sox in another thread, but how about them Phillies? What a come back yesterday! If Ryan Howard can actually come close to regular season form, they'll win it all.
BTW, the other team I root for is Boston, but Philly comes first. Few years ago the Super Bowl killed me, Pats over Eagles, bittersweet. Last time Flyers made Stanley Cup, was against the Red Wings, the other hockey team I care about. Another Philly loss. I don't know if I can take Red Sox/Phillies.

I hate the Red Sox more than I hate the Phillies; in fact, I don't like or dislike the Phillies, at least yet. But, it sure looks like they'll be in the World Series this year.

Why, because the Sox traded him? Red Sox(and Yankees) fans are so judgeMENTAL!

Talked to my brother David last night. He's lived in Philadelphia for the past 5 or 6 years but grew up in Tampa. He's followed the Phillies the entire time and has become a fan. During most of that time the Rays were far less than sub par so no problem.
Now he has a problem. Especially if both teams clinch in the next couple of days.
I'm a Rays fan so I have no issues but my sibling is really conflicted. Poor dink.

And because he's a huge douchebag. I always did and still do respect Manny as a player of a very high caliber, but he's a selfish jerk. And now that he's gone I feel more than justified in rooting against him.

Well it's the Phillies.
Tonight's game could determine their opponent. We'll all be watching.

I don't know....we're starting Kazmir; it's like Maddon think's there's no way we're beating Matsuzaka, which is probably true. Hell, I'd say it was definitely true, but the last 2 games make a fan think the Rays are hot enough to hit off anybody right now. In any event, I expect it to go to game 6, and hopefully end there. Still, a win tonight....that would be historical.

I was thinking last night that it would be great if the Phillies got Manny as a free agent. The guy is unbelievable. Did you see the graphic about what he did after joining teams last night? Indians, Sox, Dodgers, all reversed long postseason droughts with him. Postseason leader in HRs, and the Phillies woulda swept easily if not for him, and him alone.
I would love to see him replace Pat Burrell. I dream of Rollins, Utley, Ramirez, Howard, Werth, Victorino
But I'd take Sabathia as compensation
EDIT: Oh, and the Phils are in World Series! 21st century has been much better for Philly fans, w/Eagles in 4 NFC Champs, 1 Super Bowl, now Phils back-back postseason, 1 World Series, AFL champs (ok, not a big deal), Flyers made Eastern finals last year. Just need to end the big 4 champion drought. Since '83...

Hey! The SOUL being Arenabowl XXII Champs is a big deal. Take it from a Tampa Bay Storm fan.

This century's been a bit better for Tampa sports fans, I think. Our teams actually win the championships they play in.

Impressive feat, considering boston doesn't have an NFL team.

they are kind enough to allow the pats the new england designation. and foxborough is closer to boston than the giants or jets are to nyc.

dAN,
The Patriots are a Boston sports team. Period.

Nuh-uh. They're a Foxborough team. If they were a Boston team, I'd have to hate them, like I hate that loser baseball team of Bostons.

Sorry dan, but Pats are a Boston team. For football, makes sense that the stadium is outside the city, b/c tailgating, and therefore big parking lot, and easy drive access, is important. Quite a few stadiums aren't in the city they are named for.
