I don't think it's insinuating that it's the best movie of all time; just within this category.Kil Tyme wrote:If the criteria of the best movie of all time means it has to have at least won a best pic oscar, then we will get no where.
North by Northwest.
Neither was The Legend of Billy Jack, but then, it wasn't nominated for any Academy Award (that I know of), least of all Best Picture...wayfriend wrote:Turk 182 wasn't even in the list.
"Best picture ever" means "best picture of all time", in my book. No biggie, just that I would have voted for NBNW if it was on the list.Lord Foul wrote:I don't think it's insinuating that it's the best movie of all time; just within this category.
No, the thread states "best Best Picture ever", which means the best picture within the category of the Academy Award's "Best Picture" category. Even the website states this. Seven Samurai isn't on the list, and the number of voters in this poll is exceedingly low, so I don't take it seriously.Kil Tyme wrote:"Best picture ever" means "best picture of all time", in my book. Indeed, nice choice. I voted for Godfather Part I.Lord Foul wrote:Voted Godfather, Part II.
Yep, that's how I saw it too.Lord Foul wrote:I don't think it's insinuating that it's the best movie of all time; just within this category.
Ha! Pardon, you are right LF; I messed up not reading that second best. Prob the only one who it took 6 times reading to see it.Lord Foul wrote:No, the thread states "best Best Picture ever", which means the best picture within the category of the Academy Award's "Best Picture" category.
I so agree. Amadeaus is a masterpiece, and F. Murray delivered one of the finest performances on screen ever in that one...The Dreaming wrote:I always thought that nearly all of the 80s best pictures were incredibly overrated except for one, Amadeus.
My picks for best movies of the past 7 decades...

00s - Children of Men
