I don't think it's insinuating that it's the best movie of all time; just within this category.

Neither was The Legend of Billy Jack, but then, it wasn't nominated for any Academy Award (that I know of), least of all Best Picture...

"Best picture ever" means "best picture of all time", in my book. No biggie, just that I would have voted for NBNW if it was on the list.

No, the thread states "best Best Picture ever", which means the best picture within the category of the Academy Award's "Best Picture" category. Even the website states this. Seven Samurai isn't on the list, and the number of voters in this poll is exceedingly low, so I don't take it seriously.

But if we're mentioning films that were unfairly overlooked...then, oh my, don't get me started on how I feel about 2001: A Space Odyssey being snubbed in favor of the musical Oliver! in 1969.

No The Great Escape, which would be my pick. Within the framework of this list though, it was a tossup between Rocky and Braveheart, with the Gibson epic taking the prize.

I always thought that nearly all of the 80s best pictures were incredibly overrated except for one, Amadeus.

80s - Amadeaus
90s - To me, it's a tie between Fargo and LA Confidential

I so agree. Amadeaus is a masterpiece, and F. Murray delivered one of the finest performances on screen ever in that one...
