Since I have looked the Extendes films, I never again wasted time with looking the kino version.
I love the SEE not only for those additional scenes, but also for those beautiful specials

I'm with you Ramen - once I bought/viewed the EE's, cinema version seemed only half finished!

Pity that, but majority of movie goers obviously have the attention span of goldfish.

Imagine my surprise when I decided on a LOTR day, i.e. watch the EEs back to back, just to satisfy my need only to have my 2 youngest (9 & 6) sit there with me and watch it through its entirety. I didn't ask them if they wanted to they just appeared and stayed. I must admit the 2 eldest(16 & 14) didn't last quite as long, but they do have other lives.

The only down side to this is my 9yo persistance in "Dad, when can we have a Star Wars day?" - D'OH

Heh. I have two girls, 8 and 5 at the time. I went into best buy to get something, the girls and mom stepped into the home theatre room to watch tv and wait for me.

The battle of minas tirith, oliphaunts attacking, was on the 100 foot wide TV. You know, horses flying, rohirrim getting squished. In dolby surround sound.

The girls just sat there, stunned, jaws open. They were totally freaked out. In a bad, scared way.

Fortunately, Mom escorted them out a.s.a.p.

So MY kids will be MUCH older when they watch it.

So, I can live with the subtle changes made to the story. When I first heard they were making movies, I groaned. I didn't think they could possibly put this story on the screen without butchering it. Then as time went on and I watched how it all came together, my mind slowly changed. This is movie making at its best. And I will treasure my copies of them as much as I treasure my copies of the book.

Have all the extended versions of LOTRs and The Hobbit. Honestly saw The Hobbit in the cinema and came out not all that excited by it .. but got the extended versions on DVD AND SOOOO MUCH BETTER.

Same with LOTRs .. those extra scenes make sooo much difference.

Now I marathon watch them all annually, biannually, triannually or whenever I feel like deep diving Tolkien style
