Would Aronofsky have done it better?

While I can't say I'm a fan of Aronofsky, I think the guy does some genius work: Pie, Requim, Wrestler...

This man wrote a script for Batman: Year One and wanted to direct it.
This man was reportedly going to do Watchmen, but that didn't happen.

Would he have done better than Batman Begins?
And once you've seen Watchmen, the same?

I think Batman Begins was good. I don't expect art from a Batman movie, sorry, and I tend to think they take themselves too seriously. Watchmen is art if anything in comic books is art, and I hope with all my fiber that my IMAX viewing of the movie this Friday will deliver in spades. God, I hope so.

An auteur director can produce interesting results when given mainstream material. Akira Kurosawa was essentially an art house director until he directed Seven Samurai, for my money the first and best modern action film. Aronofsky's taken on Batman or Watchmen I'd pay for, but Nolan was an arty director (look at Memento), so I don't see much of a trade-off (and to be honest, neither of their "art" holds a candle to Kurosawa's).

Do you mean Pi, as in the number? God, that was a messed up film! Interesting on its own, but a bit disappointing as I was expecting a movie about math :(

Didn't he do American Pie?

Yeah it was messed up...and the ending was...err, well, it's really on it's own there. But I think there's some genius in the construction of the film.

I'm not sure if you know, but He's currently doing a Robocop remake. It makes me pee my pants a little to think about how awesome that sounds.
