You know, I've never come close to being disappointed in any of the books. But MoI... How one person came up with all that is beyond me. I'm in awe.
I'm starting to appreciate your comments more. I'm in the middle of the siege of Capustan - I've never experienced a body count this high :P

But I'm very much amazed by every turn of events, and am sure there are more horrifying, courageous, intense, mind-blowing scenes to come. Itkovian has just managed to escape the horde of peasants attacking him (not exactly unscathed though).

 Chapter 18 - page 716 (I told you I was a slow reader :) )

Basically, Capustan is awash with bodies. The White Face Barghast have driven the Pannions out - Itkovian has just invoked Fener's justice on the betraying priest - Rath' Fener, and is now Shield Anvil of a different god - Trake. Paran, Humbrall Taur, Gruntle and Itkovian are outside the Thrall.

.... and
The Wizard's eyes opened.
- page 717 now ;)

Interesting. His eyes opened on page 544 of my paperback. 913 pages in the book. So you have something like 1,200 pages in your copy?

Anyway, what an amazing moment for Itkovian! He's an extraordinary character! And he's not yet done!! Just you wait!!! :D

1180 pages - then the Glossary etc. From what I can gather, this is the "Bantam edition" published 2002 - paperback.

I must say, I'm enjoying Quick Ben's character and story immensely. With Talamandas 'on his back' - it's an entertaining combination. :) Paran is growing on me too.

Quick Ben does some amazing stuff throughout the series! And his visit with those two clowns in this book is maybe my favorite!

Truly, one of the greatest characters I've ever run across. Even his simple exchange with Korlat gives him such depth and nobility.

OK, Stevie. Keep pluggin' along! :D

Man I'm not sure if I'll ever finish this book!

I'm only getting through about a page a night at the moment - still enjoying it - just starting too late, and then have to back-track, etc, etc - 3 steps forward, 2 back...

My target is to finish by end June (year not specified :P )

I don't dare actually read this topic, as I haven't even started the book.

Just wanted to say that I'm looking forward to starting it soon, as I'm almost finished with Deadhouse Gates, which is superb and a whole order of magnitude better than GotM, as far as writing skill is concerned.
