Singularity Grenades

Post by thewormoftheworld'send »

In Chaos and Order, page 556, SRD says the Trumpet has been equipped with singularity grenades.

I sooo want to see some used on that Amnion "defensive" coming after her -

The suspense is killing me. I can hardly wait...

Although similar in some ways, I liked the ending to Dark and Hungry God better.

Yeah, it hard to beat

Both books had that. It's one of the similarities I was referring to. But that's not the point. The build-up in Dark and Hungry was more dramatic and the ending unpredictable. And the ending of that book made me feel. If a book can make me feel, that's a real accomplishment on the part of the author.

Singularity grenades. The one group of things in the Gap that sound even scarier than the mutagens. :hairs:

I take it then that you haven't encountered a singlewoman grenade.

I concur. A singularity grenade is relatively quick--by the time you realize what is happening you will be dead, at which point you won't care any more. A time-delay mutagen, on the other hand...well, with that you can never be certain that the delaying agent is going to work and thus you risk turning at any time.
The Tank is gone and now so am I.

Humanity isn't important to me, but independence of thought is. :D That's why it's scary. :D

You think that independence of thought is important to you, but would you feel differently if you lost it? I'm not that afraid of the mutagens.

However, from my human perspective, I don't approve of amnions using mutagens on other humans as a general principle.

I agree with this, all of it!

Back to singularity grenades vs. mutagens:

Is there any evidence that any mutated humans mind once the mutagen works on them? And when it starts to work, isn't it over quickly?
I'd think it would be scarier to be caught in the event horizon of a singularity grenade, not close enough to get quickly sucked in, but have your ship be in a long, slow, ultimately futile struggle fighting the black hole's gravity. Angus suffered mightily when Trumpet managed to escape, after all.

Nope, singularity grenades are scarier! :hide:

Of course I would. But I wouldn't be me any more then. And ego is defining for me. :D

I guess the biggest reason I'd fear singularity grenades more is that they have such a long reach!
