No, not specifically chained.
Children of the Eleint. But we are nothing of the sort. We simply claim the honour. But then, is this not what all mortals do? In grasping their gods, in carving the vicious rules of worship and obedience? Children of the Eleint. We name our cities for the First Born Dragons, those who once sailed the skies of this world.
But that was actually not my point at all. I hadn't gotten that far yet. I'm just saying, a bunch of Eleint tried to grab the Shadow Throne, and were eternally chained for it. Lots of chainings. At least those five; the Otataral Dragon; some other clown whose name seems to be Kaminsod...

Finished. :D

There's nothing that I remember pointing either way to whether Held is a girl or a boy. I've assumed she was a girl from the start.

Never saw the FA as good guys in the past either...other books have been pretty explicit that their idea of ensuring peace is to kill everybody. Effective.

Good book. How the hell it's all supposed to get finished in another one book is beyond me. But I enjoyed it a lot. I'll be surprised if the important Bonehunters don't make it through...People seem to have trouble staying dead in this series. And the winged assassin reported seeing tracks of people who escaped before he was taken down.

I'm just not enjoying Icarium's storyline anymore. He's annoying the hell out of me. And no Karsa in this one...still, as Murrin points out about The Rope et al, he's busy with TtH I guess. Loving Tehol as king. Liked the Queen and her daughter too.

Held is a girl, I think it was said the second or so time that the Snake was featured.

I'm about three quarters of the way through DoD. I just have to say, I loved the first half. Made me super happy. Second half, though. Ugh. Just, ugh. Also,

Haha, yeah, actually it's mentioned in the first paragraph on the first page. :D (Oh yeah, I'm on DoD now.)

Getting hobbled would kind of suck.
Roach trotted over to sniff at the gleaming phlegm, then licked it up.

Damn, Tehol is hilarious.

Only this time round did I realise that Icarium's personalities is because his machine absorbed the memories of the people who died in the blast. Must have missed that detail in RG the previous times.

I could be wrong but I don't believe it is mentioned, or even hinted at. However Breath didnt die in the blast, she did bubble some though. Eating eyeballs can do that to you, at least that's what I hear.

No, it's definitely mentioned. It specifically says that their memories are drawn into the portal Icarium went through.

Also, it captured Feather Witch's soul. (Remember, the Errant searches for it and can't find it.)

Like I said "I could be wrong", it wouldn't be the first time something flew right over my head while reading, and rereading this series.

Feather Witch was one of Icarium's ghosts, but she didn't die because of the machine, she was drowned by the Errant.

Wasn't one of the other personalities the rich merchant who was collecting machine parts in RG and trying to rebuild it?

Didn't some of the other ghosts remember being murdered, too?

Rautos Hinnavar, yes.

She didn't die because of the machine, it just sucked up her soul which was presumably hanging round after her murder.

Some of them remember dying, not necessarily being murdered I think. Certainly Taxilian died because of the machine.
