Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus

"Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus" may never come to a theater near you, but the trailer is everywhere since its debut on MTV.com this week.
The schlocky sci-fi thriller destined for the discount bin (it's direct to DVD) has already been viewed over 250,000 times on YouTube. As the video spread on the Web, searches on the monster movie surged. Lookups on "sea monsters," "mega shark vs giant octopus," and "deborah gibson" all heated up the Search box.
While the creature feature will not be promoted at Cannes, film buffs everywhere can appreciate the combination of questionable production values, mega monsters of the deep in mortal combat, imminent danger to humankind (or at least California), and an '80s pop sensation as a star.
Really, what's not to like? You can preview the video yourself -- then add the movie to your Netflix queue. Or search for it at your local DVD discount bin.

It looks like the kind of terrible movie that can be butt loads of fun.

I couldn't wait...
I downloaded it and burned a DVD rip of it yesterday and watched it last night.
Pretty much as expected...look for it on the sci-fi channel before too long, I guess.
It had it's moments, but the lack of actual action scenes was disappointing.
I will hold off on other comments until other Watchers get a chance to check it out.
Lack of internal consistency was the order of the day, that's for sure.

But does a big ass shark eat people? And stuff with people in it? That's what counts.
One day my wife comes home from work, she had a bad day. Channel surfing, we see a shark movie. Perfect, she says. Some days you just want to see a shark eating all the stupid people.
We need to know if MSvsGO fulfills this vital stress-reducing function.

There were far too few gratuitous casualties. There was no discernable 'bad guy' that got killed. There was way too low of a body count. There was never even any blood in the water, unless you want to count giant octopus blood. No suspense whatsoever. No gore.
Except for the airplane scene and the destroyer scene, the shark just didn't do anything, really. And the same goes for the octopus. Not enough scenes of destruction and devastation.

Tell me at least that the **GIANT** motherf#cking shark is destroyed by nuclear tipped torpedoes.
Or nuclear something...depthcharges even!

I will say that it is about the most anti-climatic final fight scene that I have ever witnessed.
I have seen better fight scenes at nursing homes.

I haven't read your spoilers, but I'm not too surprised by the "lack of actual action scenes." The more awesome-sounding title a low-budget flick has, the more disappointing it will likely be, which is why I usually don't bother with them. But I'm glad you watched this one so I don't have to.

It is not so bad when you know beforehand and expect something to be bad...those movies I don't mind, at least you know what you are in for. To me, at that point it is disappointing when it is not as bad as it is hoped to be.
I have had much worse feelings after watching movies that I had high hopes for rather that the opposite end of the spectrum.

Same here. And then she would turn around, look at me and say "I'm just afraid that PMS doesn't really exist and I'm just an ***hole by nature."

My daughter and I watched it this past weekend. All the other reviews are 100% spot-on. That said, we loved it. It's horribly, achingly bad. Debbie Gibson is piloting a sub at the beginning. The wide shot showing her face and torso shows her hands with no nail polish, the close-ups of her hands show black nail polish. This sets the tone for the entire movie.
The opening sub footage is reused at least 4 times. The effects are terrible. The dialog is so bad it makes Star Wars seem like a Chuck Palahniuk movie. I have to believe that everyone involved had a blast making it.
