miss you

(i'm no poet but i do however sometimes put pen to paper)
'miss you' - 26/11/01, Mount Waverley
just wanted to let you know
you are missed
by my heart you are missed
my eyes and ears
my arms
and my thoughts miss you
my heart misses the warmth of love
that you provide to it
when nearby
my heart builds me
and without my heart
i operate without growth
your love warms my heart
and when i am away from you
my heart wants to know why
then it stops and waits
arms crossed
and asks without cease
'how long now?'
sometimes my heart
can say no more to me
than 'i'm cold'
so i think of you
and it helps
but a heart can't live on it
therefore it must wait
my eyes miss your beauty
and your smiles and even also your frowns
you are only a small part of the reign of my eyes
they must see so much
that hurt them
or bother them
but you
when my i see you you
you are akin to a weekend
the most favourite time
for too much time
i have not you to see
and yet still must see
what else there is
my eyes tell me
to shake my head
and wonder what you look like now
i have a photograph
of you
here
which is for me
for my eyes
and when i look
i feel eased
but it is only one of you
not thousands of you
not the thousands of you that i see
when you are with me
my eyes can't live off a photograph
hence they must wait
my ears miss the world of your presence
your voice
the sounds of you
the sounds of a world with you in it
the sound of my smile
because my smile is the product of you
i hear plenty here
but nothing brings up the grin
and its lonely here
without your sounds around me
i can hear you sometimes
while i am away
through the phone
or through my mind
i can be reminded
it's beautiful
yet subject to restriction
as sound is part of the whole
and the whole serves better
to decipher the sound
but the sounds i can gather
for now
help fend the ache
while my ears must wait
my arms miss the you that you are
the reality
the wholeness and existence
the confirmation
that you are anywhere
where i can be
the touch of you
the hold
the being held
i feel undone
without you to hold
and i sit and wonder
what to do
and have no answer
i delve deep
into my memory
for times when you and i touched
when we held each other
when contact was made
and form a recollection
the texture of you
the softness
and i give my arms something to look forward to
while they wait
my thoughts miss your currency
your recent presence in my own presence
for all i do is think
as if that might help
of course it doesn't
for all i think upon
is of that which i'm waiting to come home to
there is nothing
else
there is only you
upon my mind
i can shrug and search my mind
but my mind shouts back at me
says 'how dare you'
and stands firm
it already has what it wants
thoughts of you
all it wants
thoughts
of you
but those thoughts are of pain
because they are entwined
with separation
however brief
and although thoughts may get me through
they are not you
they are only a calling for you
a pleading
and a question
where are you
you are soon
