I hope he rests in peace!

Me too.
At least more peacefully than this particular go-round brought him...

Totally shocked but almost not surprised. I wonder what got him. We'll find out I'm sure, but damn. A difficult life with incredible talent!

2 celebs in one day. Sad to see each go, but Michael's death is going to almost bury Farrah's death. Ed M's death makes it 3 celebs this week... As they say, bad news comes in 3's.

I've only just noticed your signature, Warmark. Thanks for the laugh! :)

As a Watcher who inadvertently once made the error to which Warmark's sig refers -- but was quickly and gently set straight by Menolly -- I too can laugh at the first bit while disputing his conclusion.

Speaking of conclusions (and dodging a THOOOP charge), RIP to the putative King of Pop.

Reports say he had 50 sold-out concerts scheduled for this summer, as part of a come-back tour. There are going to be a lot of angry promoters now...

Indeed. For all his money and fame, he had a really tough life.

(It's not helping matters, for me, that I'm only a year older than him, and grew up just two counties away. I thought I'd have at least another decade before my contemporaries in the entertainment industry started dying.... 8O )

Yeah, he epitomized the term 'tortured artist'. It was sad to see him fall apart, and sad to see him go.

I'm quite shocked by the news. I want to remember MJ for his music, not the media circus around his life, not the legal controversies. If I'm going to start judging him for his personal faults, then I may as well start hating Beethoven, too.

Jackson wrote some awesome songs in his time. In particular, the songs off the Thriller album were part of the soundtrack to my life in the summer/winter of '83. Billie Jean was one of the greatest pop songs I had ever heard, and still is. Beat It was no slouch either. And the music videos...incredible. The Thriller video wasn't merely a video, it was a television event.

Then you consider the precision of Jackson's dance moves. He made most other singer-dancers look like floundering amateurs.
He set an imposing standard as an entertainer.

Farewell, Michael.

First reports state that he died of an cardiac arrest. Which is different than a heart attack.
Heart attack is a plumbing issue and cardiac arrest is more an electrical issue.

I was personally deeply upset when I heard this. I can no longer ground my kids and play the "Michael might get you" card. I hope another freakish pedophile comes along soon......

Not necessarily. Cardiac arrest can also result from many ways.

Wow...

I've never seen that one before.
Nice choice, Cj.

The song had never grabbed me, which is why I never saw the video, I guess. But the dancing is impeccable in that...
