Oh, to have the wisdom of Mhoram...

...or his humility.
...or the toughness of Linden*.
...or the steadfastness of Sunder.
...or the joyfulness of a giant.
...or the willingness to sacrifice of the Morrinmoss healer.

What are your favorite virtues of various characters in the books?

Note, this is not -exactly- a "I want this virtue" commentary. ;) We can't always say that we -want- a certain virtue, because if we had it we might have to use it. And that may involve a certain price we are not presently willing to pay!

* I am stating a personal opinion of virtue I perceive in a certain character. If you're not a Linden fan, please, don't make this thread about this comment. Surely there are other characters you'd rather talk about!

There were many character's characteristics I admired. Someone that really hit home for me was Heartthrall Tohrm. He had a combination of humor, acceptance and sturdiness that made him someone I wished to be around. There was a kindness and caring about the man that made me want to read more about him. He accepted the people around him with simple, uncomplicated love, yet there was more to him. In the end, he stood shoulder to shoulder with the Lords and faced Lord Foul's army.

I know this not a post about whyat I want, but I wouldnt mind meeting a man like that.

That, to me, is an understatement ;) Triock is a real amazing character, and I see more of myself in him then in any other character... except for his courage to forgo his own agenda in order to stay true to certain virtues and keep the one hope for the Land around.

As far as other characteristics, how about the planning abilities of Lord Foul? :P I could get sooo much done if I had that ability...

... and 3,500 years time.

I think Stave's devotion should be mentioned. Almost no other character in all the chronicles paid a similar price.

I have to second Menolly about Trell's passion. His love and grief for the Earth itself were so... poignant to me.

Covenant's beardiness.
The man could just grow a beard.
Hellfire. I can't. Little spot, right on my left chin, no hair at all. Creates an off-center gap in any attempt. And mine itches way long before it gets long. His apparently never does, until like the day before the quest is to end.
