News (rant)

What's up with the news anymore? I want to see two people sitting behind a desk reading from pieces of paper. Raw, UNSPUN, non-performance, news. But what's on this morning on the channels that used to have "news?" "News SHOWS."

- Good Morning America
- Morning Express with Robin Meade (CNN Headline News)
- The Early Show
- Good Day Philadelphia
- Good Morning America
- American Morning (CNN)
- FOX and Friends
- Morning Joe (MSNBC)
- Squawk Box (CNBC)

The one and only "normal" news show is:
- PIX Morning News

... but it's mostly "local" news (local to the NYC area - which I fled six months ago), and national and world news doesn't start until halfway through the reports.

Sheesh!

I'm afraid the days of un-spun news are long gone.

Journalism is dead. All that is left is competing for ratings.

It's sickening. Everytime I see a commercial about the news, it's always "Blar-gady Blarg has been keep from you, how may it harm your family? How can you deal? Find out at 8." Life has enough problems without these assholes trying to add to them in a National Enquirer type mannerism.

I know, that Hearst guy really ruined things for us.

And don't even get me started on Franklin. Now, THAT a**hole was an attention whore!

Too true -- re TV news, anyhow. I like to think it's one of the reasons I bailed from the business.

There is no "news" anymore. The "news of today" is obsolete before it reaches you.

I watch Fox News--mostly for the comedy. As long as I have some vague idea of what's going on outside my own objectivity, I'm usually able to make my own decisions, so I'm safe watching the most distorted news feed known to man.

Hopefully this world will become so saturated with Twittering, Facebook and informational filters through the Internet, coupled with pervasive yellow journalism, that our world will become cartoonish to the extent that The Simpsons seems normal. Let's go there. Come on!

I watch the Spanish news channels and I don't speak Spanish.
I'm in it for the babes.

I like it when Dana Perino comes on Fox. With the right amount of make-up, I'd hit it. I also like Laura Ingraham. Very hot for her forties, and it's funny to hear a woman talk intelligently.

LOL!!! I can't even stand the commercials showing her face (Nancy Grace). She just looks ... offensive ... to me - I couldn't imagine actually watching her show. But I have to agree - this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen!

Did I just watch a Nancy Grace sex tape?
