The Hurt Locker. Without a doubt, the best Iraq War movie I've seen. Also the best movie Bigelow's done since Point Break.

Doing some digging after seeing the movie, and it looks like Ebert liked it as well. The article also confirmed my suspicion that the title was taken from a poem by Brian Turner in Here, Bullet, which, by the way, is a great read. There's also a lot of poetic touches in the movie that I can't help but feel are inspired by the book.

Funny, I was just looking at the reviews for this movie last night and decided I really wanted to see it. Problem is the limited release. The closest theater is probably 50 miles away. I'm thinking I'll have to make the trip.

Bigelow is such a talented director that I can forgive her for Strange Days. I'm really looking forward to this movie.

I have mixed feelings about this one. It's kind of two films, the first half being a suspense film, the second a character drama set in Iraq. My problem is that Guy Pierce should have played the main character because of what the film became. The suspense worked for a third of the film, but then started to get old, and then the film kind of changed and just didn't quite work for me. In the end it's still worth watching but not quite as good as everyone has been saying, IMO.

Excellent movie! Saw it in Newport, RI and loved it.

Finally saw this last night. Very gripping and suspenseful, and the story was well-told. Probably the best film I've seen this year (2009).

I agree.

Still hasn't been released here (NZ) yet, but looking forward to it. Hopefully it gets a decent run in theaters giving its oscar status.

It is a damned good movie, but I guess it might not run in NZ as theatres might be reluctant to carry what has essentially been a box office dud.

I think the Hollywood academy people really got this one wrong; whilst good in most departments it has not proved to be a movie people want to get out and see, tho' I reckon the dvd audience will be better.

Its running in NZ, it opens April 1st. Was wondering why I hadn't seen any ads for it yet. I'm just real slack with seeing films in the theatre, so if it only has a short screening window I'll probably miss it haha.

The main pitch they're usin on the news here: the stuntman who runs away from the massive explosion in the trailer, and who did all the main characters stunts, is a New Zealander. Classic.

Great Movie!! I saw it the other night.. one of the best war movies ive seen in a long time. for obvious reasons it reminded me of the HBO special series Generation Kill. good mini if you havent seen it yet.
