I won't wiki, google, bio or try anything to shortchange this group-starting with the 1st two I ever heard (intensity occurs):
Sugar
and
Chop Suey!

That's touching, but what we really want is your promise NOT to delete this thread if it accidentally gets too close to a Michael Jackson thread......

That one is definitely less aggressive than
Chop Suey! I enjoy their music, just haven't heard a great deal - chop suey was the 1st one I heard, and I liked it - they're a crazy looking bunch

NAH!
Actually, B.Y.O.B is the best, well-at least the most popular, song off Mezmerize-I'll see if I can find it.
Armenian nutcases from Glendale CA, who'd have thunk it?!

OK, here it is-this song is so insane, convinces you it's sending a message, then it's all gobbledegook, then it makes sense and it
is sending you a message. The multifaceted singing is the same way: completely disjointed, absurd and, at places, numerous voices come together and it's, almost, symphonic.
B.Y.O.B
This was my, secret, favorite party/BBQ song last summer...

Oh, cool! And it's very exciting they're doing a reunion tour. Man, seems to be the era for reunions the past couple of years. I have been lucky enough to see RATM and Faith No More in less than a year, when no-one thought we'd ever hear from either of them again.
Pity about the absence of NZ tour dates, but along with every other NZer I'm quite used to that now.
Maybe they'll even put out some new material? I'd love to see where they'd take a new album to. I loved Mezmerize, but Hypnotize, though I recognized as a good album, was a little screamy for my personal tastes.

Man...I always want to love this band. But end up with about 1 song an album is pretty cool.
OTOH, saw them way way back when I was living in California, and what a hella good time. Other bands there...I'm almost positive Suicidal Tendencies was one...and I think Sepultura maybe? Saw too many bands in too many altered states back then...but it was almost definitely in the same month as Sepultura came to town...some fan went the entire length of Sepulveda blvd. [which has to be 10 miles long at least...maybe 20] and pasted 'tura' after Sepul on every intersection sign.

The song "Aerials" doesn't seem typical of this band, but it's one of my favorites by them.
AERIALS
(Written by: John Dolmayan, Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian, Serj Tankian)
Life is a waterfall,
We're one in the river,
And one again after the fall.
Swimming through the void
We hear the word,
We lose ourselves,
But we find it all?
Cause we are the ones that want to play,
Always want to go,
But you never want to stay,
And we are the ones that want to choose,
Always want to play,
But you never want to lose.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Life is a waterfall,
We drink from the river,
Then we turn around and put up our walls.
Swimming through the void
We hear the word,
We lose ourselves,
But we find it all?
Cause we are the ones that want to play,
Always want to go,
But you never want to stay,
And we are the ones that want to choose,
Always want to play,
But you never want to lose.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Aerials, so up high,
When you free your eyes,
Eternal prize.
Aerials, in the sky,
When you lose small mind,
You free your life.
Aerials, so up high,
When you free your eyes,
Eternal prize.
