Agreed.lorin wrote:I think the smartest thing he did was leave the phone off. The sooner you know you are dating psychobitch, the better.
where's the icon for backpedalling?CovenantJr wrote:To be fair to Em, if my girlfriend just stopped speaking or responding to me, I would have been apoplectic too. She's a self-absorbed moron for not being aware that her boyfriend was going on holiday, but if you set that part aside her behaviour is more understandable. She's not the only one who has made stupid decisions while in pain.
Not backpedalling, just modified pedalling. I took some extra time to empathise a bit more. There's never just one point of view.lorin wrote:where's the icon for backpedalling?CovenantJr wrote:To be fair to Em, if my girlfriend just stopped speaking or responding to me, I would have been apoplectic too. actually, I could use a little of that empathetic quality these days. could you spare some?CovenantJr wrote:Not backpedalling, just modified pedalling. I took some extra time to empathise a bit more. The extremity of her reaction was ludicrous, and he (whoever he is) is well rid of her. But the basic principles of the way she reacted aren't entirely unreasonable. I've had the blank shut-out before (a real one, not a 'whoops, I'm on holiday' one), and it's horrendously infuriating. Again, her reaction is extreme, but given what she knew and didn't know, it's not quite as bizarre as it initially seemed.
Meh, I'm an empathiser. I understand all points of view. That's why people find my advice irritating.
Yeah...me too. She must be single. Anybody have her number?Earthfriend wrote:Okay, I shared this with pretty much everyone at work! Champagne comedy!
However, and it may be strange, but I actually feel a little sorry for Em...the girl definitely has 'issues'.
The guy who told her right before he left, "Honey I'm going to Europe for two weeks..."? She had broken up with before 5 days was out, and slept with someone else within a week. So even if he had said "Honey, I'm going to Europe for two weeks and won't be in touch til Saturday..." do you think she would have even heard him, or acted any differently?Orlion wrote:Was Em a little crazy? You bet. But there are some problems I have with the guy... like why the hell he did not send any form of communication to Em in the form of postcards, or dare I say, e-mail? I'm sure there are plenty of Internet Cafes which he could have used every once in a while, but he didn't. What guy decides to go elsewhere for two weeks and not contact their significant other at all during that entire time?
